    3. Hi Rachel, My ancestors Charles Gibson his wife Susannah and 2 boys James H. Gibson,Willie A.Gibson left Rochdale,Lancs. England sometime after March 1869 and before the US 1870 census. I have a copy of the US 1870 census showing this family living in Lawrence,Essex county,Massachusetts, while there 2 more boys were born. First Robert E. Gibson in 1872 then Charles Gibson in 1875, the family who I believe worked in the cotton mills in the area as the adults were both Weavers in Rochdale stayed until moving back to Wardleworth,Lancs. in time for the 1881 census. Except for Charles Gibson snr. Susannah is shown as Head living with the 4 boys, her status is listed as married but that could be a mistake on the enumerators part. I have searched the US 1880 census for Charles Gibson born 1841 Rochdale,Lancs. England but no record is found, I even left the state box empty to search all states but no record found. I believe he died in Massachusetts and Susannah returned to England with the 4 boys, I cannot find Susannah on subsequent census returns but have found all 4 boys living in different places. Any help you might be able to shed on this mystery of mine would be greatly appreciated please feel free to contact me if I can give you any more information. Regards, Roy Jackson Canada. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Family Gujral" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2008 1:36 AM Subject: Re: [BDF] American Ancestors > Roy, > Most of the 1890 US census returns were destroyed in a fire in the 1920's. > A > search of the available fragments of the 1890 census do not show Susannah, > Robert or Charles Gibson.
