Know All Men by these presents that toe Thomas Markham the Elder of the parish of Alconbury in the County of Huntingdon yeoman and William Burton of the same place yeoman the major part of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Alconbury aforesaid are held and firmly Bound to John Moon Robert Dillingham and Edward Lowe the major part of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the parish of Eaton Socon in the County of Bedford in the Sum of Fifty Pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to the said John Robert and Edward or either or any of them their or either or any of their attorneys Executors Administrators Successors or Assigns To which payment well and faithfully to be made to Bind our selves and every of us our and every of our Heirs Executors Administrators Successors and Assigns firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals Dated the Fourteenth Day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Fifty Two and in the Twenty Sixth year of the Reign of his Majesty King George the Second Whereas Sarah Teate Single woman hath Intruded herself into the abovesaid parish of Eaton Socon and hath for some time past Dwell and Inhabited within the said parish without any Right as to do not having gained a legal Settlement therein And whereas the said Sarah Teate is an Inhabitant legally settled in the said parish of Alconbury and is now become great with Child or Children which said Child or Children when born will be likely to become Chargeable to the said parish of Eaton Socon in case the said Sarah Teat shall be brought to Bed of such Child or Children in the said parish of Eton Socon And Whereas the said Thomas Markham and William Burton in behalf of themselves and their Successors and also the Inhabitants for the time being of the said parish of Alconbury has undertaken to indemnify the said John Moon Robert Dillingham and Edward Lowe their Assigns and Successors and also all other the Inhabitants of the said parish of Eaton Socon which now and shall be hereafter of and from all Damages Charges and Expenses that may accrue to them or any of them by want of the said Sarah Teate's being brought to bed of such Child or Children within the said parish of Eaton Socon or by reason or means of the Birth Maintenance or Education of such Child or Children, or of the Maintenance of the said Sarah Teate Now the Condition of the above written Obligation is such That if the above bounden Thomas Markham and William Burton their Successors for the time being shall and do from time to time and at all times hereafter In Case the said Sarah Teate shall not gain a Legal Settlement in the said Parish of Eaton Socon Receive the said Sarah as an Inhabitant lawfully Settled in the above named parish of Alconbury And also shall and do from time to time and at all times hereafter are and keep Harmless and Indemnified as well the said John Moon Robert Dillingham & Edward Lowe and their successors for the time being as also all and every the Inhabitants and parishioners of the said parish of Eaton Socon which now are or hereafter shall be and every of them of from and against All manner of Costs Charges Damages and Expenses whatsoever which shall or may at any time hereafter happen grow or be Charged or Imposed upon them or any of them for or by reason or means of the Support and maintenance of the said Sarah Teate or for or by reason or means of the said Sarah Teate being great with Child as aforesaid or for or on account or aiding of the Birth Education Maintenance and Bringing up such Child or Children that she the said Sarah Teate now goeth with and of and from all other Suits Troubles Charges Damages and Demands whatsoever touching or Concerning the same Then the above written Obligation to the said otherwise to be and Remain in full force and Virtue Sealed and Delivered In the presence of Abraham Thos Taylor his mark Tho Markham William Burton
