Know all Men by these presents that William Smith of the parish of Eaton Socon in the County of Bedford husbandman and James Woodward gr(?) of the parish of Northill in the said County of Bedford are held and firmly bound to Nicholas Livett grocer Thomas Wyles Yeoman Edward Pridmore Joyner and Nicholas Collins Yeoman Churchwarden and Overseer of the poor of the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid in Forty pound of good and Lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to the said Nicholas Livett Thomas Wyles Edward Pridmore and Nicholas Collins or their Certain Attorneys or Successors for the time being for the true payment whereof we bind our Selves our Heirs Extors and Admers Joyntly and Severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our Seals Dated the Thirteenth day of December in the Twenty Second Year of our Sovereign Lord King George the Second's Reign our Great Britain be and in the Year of our Lord 1748. The Condition of this Obligation of such that Whereas Elisabeth Brown hath lately Intruded herself into the parish of Eaton Socon and in there found to be with Child and such Child is like to be Born a Bastard and to be chargeable to the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid. if Therefore the said William Smith and Thomas Woodward or either of them their or either of their Heirs Extors or Admers do from time to time and at all times hereafter Clearly and fully Acquit discharge and save Harmless as well the above named Nicholas Livett Thomas Wyles Edward Pridmore and Nicholas Collins Churchwardens and Overseers of the poor of the parish of Eaton Socon aforesaid and their Successors for the time being as also all the other Inhabitants and parishioners of the said parish of Eaton Socon which now are or hereafter shall be for the Time being and every of them of and from all and all manner of Costs Charges Trouble and Incumbrances whatsoever for or by reason of the Birth Education Maintenance Nourishing and bringing up of the said Child of and from all other Actions Suits Charges Troubles and Demands whatsoever Touching or Concerning the same Then this present Obligation to be Void and of none Effect or else to remain in full force Sealed and Delivered being first only Stamp'd in the presence of us Edward Pridmore the mark of Ann Smith Thomas Woodward William Smith
