    3. At least one of the 1851 Cardington Hoaten family show in 1861 as HOUGHTON, and I would think that 1851 was just a spelling aberration. I had a quick look at FreeBMD last night and there was a William Charles Houghton born at the right time in Runcorn. Proving it's the one who who died in Rhodesia is another matter.
