Hi David, Just a couple of thoughts you might not have considered in your research.... I have come across a number of "adult" baptisms in my research. Frequently, they had previously been a member of a non-conformist church and had "swapped sides" as adults. This of course works both ways. Non-conformist churches generally did not believe in infant baptisms, therefore by default, a baptism would be much later after a birth. It's an extracted item, so reliable.. There's an extracted marriage on the IGI of Jonathan Swales and Mary Hight at Kempston on 16 Feb 1829. In 1851 living in Kempston were Jonathan Swales 42 born Kempston, and his wife Mary age 44 born Colmworth. So it seems as though she is one of the missing children of Samuel and Jane born in that gap between 1803 and 1810. But the baptism entry is in her maiden name of Hight, as opposed to Swales, which I've not seen before. It would be interesting to see what the full entry says. I don't think there are any Colmworth baptisms missing - I've never seen two separate registers for males and females (although others may have) - as there are plenty of male baptisms on the BVRI in Colmworth 1812-22. I think it's merely that none of the Hite sons were baptised. Thanks for your input Sandra and Carole. Whilst Renhold and Colmworth are only 3 miles apart I haven't yet been able to link the Hites in the two parishes. But I'm still working on it!
