    3. Hello, New to the list Researching MARY HARPER born 1826 daughter of Reuben Harpur and Frances Cook. Mary married George Cox from Surrey and came to Australia on the Six Sisters arriving in 1853. Wondered if any one was researching the Harpur/Harper line. Marianne Australia

    3. Marianne, Are you looking specifically for relatives or just help with research? Reuben Harpur married Frances Cook in Goldington on 4/6/1815. Renhold batches show nine children christened there between 1816-1832. Have you looked at 1841 and 1851 census? That should give some clues to family origins and survivors. Mary Haper married George Cox in Bedford in Dec qtr 1847. So you should also be able to find them in 1851 census prior to migration. Do you know why they migrated? Quite often they may have had relatives in the colony, either as free settlers or convicts. Check who was on the ship with them. Also check Bedford gaol database. And finally, there is one posting for Reuben Harper b1791 on Family Trees at www.rootsweb.com. It has the births and deaths of most of the children but does not continue to present day.
