Hello Jenny, A marriage prior to 1 July 1837 would be *MOST* unlikely to give his father's name, while any Parish named would be where he was living at the time, and not where he was born. It just may give his age - if he was under 21. The forms used for Marriage Registers didn't ask for the information you're hoping for - and so it wasn't provided :-( However, you just may be lucky if they had married by Licence - for *IF* the "application form" has survived, that may give a little more detail. But the chances aren't all that great... I'll hope for you that you ARE lucky!
