I am trying to trace details of the marriage of William BOYCE and the 'Eliza' mentioned below ... William BOYCE married Fanny MERREDEL on 25 Dec 1848 in that lovely little church at Battlesden. The 1891 census shows them living in Soulbury in Bucks. Fanny died in 1894 the GRO has an entry showing her death as registered Leighton B March qtr 1894. The 1901 census shows William BOYCE (age 72) and wife Eliza (age 74) living in Billington in Beds. William BOYCE died in 1908 the GRO has an entry showing his death as registered Leighton B March qtr 1908. The 1911 census shows widow Eliza BOYCE (84) and brother James HALSEY (age 79) a widower living in Leedon, Leighton B. Eliza BOYCE died in 1917 the GRO has an entry showing her death registered Leighton B Sep qtr 1917. I can find no trace of the marriage between William BOYCE and Eliza via various searches of the GRO etc. Also I have traced brother James HALSEY back to what I am sure is a entry for him in the 1841 census but no sign of Eliza in the family group. Therefore have so far not been able to work out what Eliza's surname would have been when she married William BOYCE so could attempt to trace their marriage via her surname rather than his. Any assistance, thoughts or ideas welcome …! BTW my interest in all this is Fanny MERREDEL my ggGrandfather's sister! pb
