    3. Peter According to FreeBMD, there is an Ann Elizabeth Sinfield born in Woburn, on the birth index for 3rd quarter 1888, but annoyingly the reference is Woburn, Volume 3b, page 36_ [which I presume means the transcriber cannot make out the last digit of the page number]. However, if that is the correct person, that does tend to put them still in Woburn in 1888, so maybe the move to London was later than you thought? I have a Bethnal Green, Middlesex marriage certificate dated 29/9/1907 between John Elms 21 and Ann Elizabeth Sinfield 20, (birth est 1887). Ann gives her father as Daniel Sinfield, and presumably he is still living, as John Elms father is shown as deceased. But I can't find a Daniel Sinfield in 1891 or 1901 living in London with a daughter Ann (and variants). And the only three Daniel's in 1881 are in Bedfordshire but none go close to the 1863 birth date below. Going back to 1871, there is a Daniel Sinfield born c1863 living in Bethnal Green with parents William Sinfield and Hannah. William is born c1830 at Woburn. But they all seem to disappear after 1871. I've tried every combination I can think of. I'm wondering if one of the many Sinfield researcher on this list has a spare Daniel tucked away somewhere. 3. Richard, Thanks for your efforts. But I don't think that's them. Remember, she gives her father as Daniel. There is also an Annie Matilda Sinfield registered Dec 1887 in Bethnal Green. That's the right location and fits age exactly. But Matilda is wrong. And where is she in 1891 and 1901. And where's Daniel? Peter

    3. Kia Ora Peter The time your family is "missing" was, as you know, the high point of colonisation. Have you checked whether the family emigrated & returned? Also you don't mention the father's occupation which might be critical to identifying him.
