Hi, Many years ago I used to visit the above Centre at the Mormon Church in Cutenhoe Road, Luton which was open for research four evenings a week. Merryl, I'm not a local, but according to the list, it looks like the Luton centre has closed. The nearest to Luton seem to be Stevenage or Watford, depending where you live. A full list with opening hours is on the LDS at http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp But years ago, they didn't have the internet. You can now probably do most things from home on your own computer. The above site will have most available indexes of parish records up to 1837 and www.freebmd.org.uk will have civil registrations after that date. Obviously, if you want to view original PR's on fiche or film etc, you have to go to an LDS or FHS centre or a county record office. And the full list of census records can be searched on a pay per view basis at Find My Past or Ancestry. If you're lucky you may even find a local library of research centre that allows free access or charges a daily search fee. Peter in Sydney

Thank you very much to those who have replied to my query regarding the Mormon Family Research Centre at Cutenhoe Road, Luton. I will try ringing them to discover if they still run a Research Centre as I really want to find somewhere near at which I could access the post 1858 Will Indexes.
