    3. Thinking out the box so to speak rather then confirming name on PR's since this marriae took place after 1837 it can be found in the BMD registrations. Logic behind my thinking is as follows: We know: Date: 21 Aug 1867 ==> Jul/Sep Quarter 1867 Location: Maulden ==> Registration District (Ampthill, Bedfordshire) Name of Groom: James Randall. Pump this into the BMD search on Ancestry resulted in one hit only one possible bride Elizabeth READ The BMD Reference is: Jul/Sep - 1867 - Ampthill, Bedfordshire - Vol: 3b Page: 576 - I have looked at the image of the Registration Index and can confirm that the Vol and Page have been correctly read. The other check is to check the ages of Eliza in the 1851 & 1861 Censuses (i.e. before marriage) and 1871 onward (post marriage). Also check that Eliza Read does not appear in the 1871 census. Don't want to teach grandma to suck eggs etc but thought it would be sensible to explain my thinking etc for the newer members etc. Regards Kevin

    3. Well done Kevin, I hope Betty doesn't mind. I'm trying to imagine her in a rocking chair with a shawl, learning to suck eggs. Betty is an avid researcher and helps many people on this list and in NZ. While you often find misspellings in user submissions, it the first time I've seen one on an extracted record on IGI. It proves the point about trying to verify from two sources. Peter
