Do you go the your local Archives these days? You can buy access to censuses on line, in some areas, wills and parish registers, but have you used settlement certificates, manorial rolls, estate papers, friendly society records, tax asseeements, militia lists etc etc? At 3pm on Saturday Feb 13, Roger Bettridge, County Archivist for Bucks, will tell us about these and many other great sources of information hidden away in Archives around the country. Before this, at 2pm, we shall have available books, CDs and fiches for Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria, to help with your searches (and the basic IGi and 1881 census).
