    3. Hi Sharon?? Trying to join the dots is notoriously fraught with complications and disappointments Can you not make your way back from yourself to this James WEST ? The only James WEST I can see who died around 1890 in Bedfordshire is one born 1823 approx and he appears to be an Ag Lab Checking the census there are a few James WESTs in Bedfordshire over the years but found to be anything like an artist No connection found between a James WEST and a Tavistock Road or Street at any time If you can prove the line and find out where he was born married and died you may have better luck Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > According to family tradition, my great great grandfather was James West, > a > commercial artist who at one time had a studio in Tavistock Rd in Bedford. > I > think he died about 1890. 3. exactly what I am trying to find out. He was supposedly born in 1818 and his father's name was Richard. He married a Margaret Pickford in 1842 in Middlesex. I would like to know more about Richard and further back, but don't seem to be having any luck. Apparently he was an ironmonger On Sat, Feb 13, 2010 at 11:05 PM, Nivard Ovington <ovington1@sky.com> wrote: > Hi Sharon?? > > Trying to join the dots is notoriously fraught with complications and > disappointments > > Can you not make your way back from yourself to this James WEST ? > > The only James WEST I can see who died around 1890 in Bedfordshire is one > born 1823 approx and he appears to be an Ag Lab > > Checking the census there are a few James WESTs in Bedfordshire over the > years but found to be anything like an artist > > No connection found between a James WEST and a Tavistock Road or Street at > any time > > If you can prove the line and find out where he was born married and died > you may have better luck > > Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > > > > > According to family tradition, my great great grandfather was James West, > > a > > commercial artist who at one time had a studio in Tavistock Rd in > Bedford. > > I > > think he died about 1890. 3. When you say Tavistock Rd, Bedford, I wonder if it should be Tavistock Rd, Bedford Square, London. This was/is part of the estates owned by the Dukes of Bedford & the roads & squares are named after their family names & titles. Lord Tavistock is the heir to the Duke. That would fit in to the information about him living in London.
