Hello Listers, I have recently discovered in the Parish Records of Rettendon in Essex,  I hope this link works for and someone may find this of interest;  http://seax.essexcc.gov.uk/Images.Net/Default.aspx?ID=961096&intThisRecordsOffSet=8&intOffSet=0  March 10th 1716 John the son of Rose Mary WARD a poor traveller from Bedfordshire bought to bed at the Hawke and kept there until she was Churched, at the charge of the parish,  William WARD her husband being dead, Rob~ Surrey Overseer.  The Hawke is a public house in Battlesbridge, Essex.  I am in search of a John FENNER born c1766 as no record has yet been found for him in Essex after 20years of searching I am widening my search.  I notice there are FENNERs or FFENNERS in Bedfordshire.  If anyone has a John FENNER who disappears before 1790 I would be pleased to hear from you.
