Hi Becky, I have a lot of Maulden Northwoods in my tree. The one who started it all was Anne Northwood b.1765 daughter of John Northwood and Mary Cook. Anne married Samuel Smith in 1791.John's father was William Northwood, thought to be from Buckinghamshire. There are several other on this list who also have these names.There have been many discussions about the Northwoods and where they may have come from which you should be able to find in the archive.
