Hello to the List, Is there someone who will kindly lookup the 1841 Census please? JOHN SMITH b.about 1769, therefore aged about 72 years. Probably a Farmer. Wife deceased. He died Nov. 1841 and buried at PODINGTON. Other family who he maybe with or were nearby are: sons JOHN and WILLIAM SMITH daughters LYDIA ROOTHAM and KERENHAPPUCH GOUGH ( GOFF). Kathy Henry was christened to Joseph & Jane DAWSON on the 6th Jan 1839 at St Paul's, Bedford - his brothers & sister were also christened there. Their daughter, Mary Jane DAWSON [Henry's sister], married a man called George MARDLIN in 1856 [24th Jan] in Leighton Buzzard...I dont know what happens with Mary Jane DAWSON & George MARDLIN - but by 1881 census her mother Jane WHEELER [formerly DAWSON] is an old lady of 84 in Turvey caring for her two grandchildren [Eliza MARDLIN, aged12 & Annie MARDLIN, aged 8]. Jane was born in Kimbolton - Huntingdonshire according to the 1881 census & she died aged 86 [death was registered in Dec quarter of 1882]. By the time of the 1891 census the two MARDLIN girls are at the Turvey post office & grocers along with older sister Jane MARDLIN [aged 31] who is the post mistress...Eliza is the telegraph clerk & Annie is a teacher. I was wondering whether someone on the list could do a lookup for me in the Eggington Parish Registers - according to the IGI (and borne out by the GRO indexes), Jane Foster married John Lancaster at Eggington on 12 Jun 1848. I am trying to ascertain if this Jane Foster is the daughter of Emanuel Foster of Weedon, Bucks, but, frustratingly, the IGI has her father only as E..... I am hoping some kind soul could have a look for me and determine if the name is, in fact, Emanuel(and if a reciprocal lookup in the Bucks archives would help, I can do that!) Hi Marlene, I know you are always on the hunt for FAIREYs. I was browsing in a book of Britannica. No VIII Containing collections towards the history and antiquities of Bedfordshire; viz. Puddington, Luton, and Dunstaple. London, Published, 1783 and made note of a 'Fayrey" entry. on page 217 at Dunstable a memorial of Henry Fayrey & his wife Agnes which lyeth buried under this stone Henry died the 28th day of Dec 1516 under the inscription are five sons & as many daughters It also mentions the funeral pall, that was used. The same as in the Harvard collection from the sounds of it. Then it goes on to mention a John and Mary Fayrey, no dates for them.
