    3. Hi As a new lister I would appreciate advice on how best to get a full transcription of a marriage entry. According to the IGI John Stoddard and Sarah Whittimore were married on 13 January 1795 at St Peter's, Bedford. Can I obtain a copy for the record office or a family history society, please? Or does anyone offer lookups? Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA Alan Whitaker Derby

    3. Hi Suzanne, While not saying you WON'T find a baptism or birth record from 1650-1660, you'd be very lucky if you did. This was the latter days of the People's Republic of England - when births, marriages and deaths were registered Civilly before Magistrates and the Established Church was actively discouraged from keeping registers :-( After the Restoration in 1660 the vast majority of the Magistrates' Records were destroyed. If they name someone as "of somewhere" it means that the person was resident in that place at the time of the marriage. Residence could be acquired in several ways (that I won't go into here), and was important because it was used to determine which parish was responsible for the maintenance of paupers. 3. In the parish register it say Wallingford (rectius Wallington, Herts) the Latin word "rectius" means to correct or mend, so Wallingford has been corrected to Wallington. Wallingford is in Oxfordshire, on the Thames, whereas Wallington is in Hertfordshire, and much more likely to be William's birthplace. As Patti pointed out earlier there is no sign that James and Elizabeth had a son John in 1814, but they did have a John in 1823 in Arlesey. As I pointed out in the earlier thread on the other message board I believe that your John was the one born 1811 at Stotfold, the son of John Albon and Mary (Cook), so I think that James Albon from Clifton is a false trail anyway. I'll continue on your cross post on the message board Regards David Suzanne Compton <suzanne@ot2.co.uk> a écrit : Thanks David for all your help. I went to my library and confirmed that my James Albon baptism was 19th September 1784, Clifton. I also confirmed that he married Elizabeth Oliver in1804. Along the side of James Albon it said his parents were William Albon and Ann, but, it didn't say where they were from. I searched through the Clifton records and found four entries for a William's baptisms. One 1743, 1744, 1751 and 1752 There is another entry for 1791. I think this is the end of of tree. Can anyone help me out in any way. 3. Hi Suzanne You're correct, I have them in my tree, the parents are William Albon and Rosamund Baldock, no baptism for her yet - married 3 Nov 1676 Henlow, parish register entry. I've found a marriage for William Albon and Ann Arnold in Henlow 1772 which seems to tie up with the rest of the tree. I've also found a baptism for William Albon in 1689 son of William Albon & Rosamond Do you think this could be right. The first born child I have found for William and Mary is Elizabeth Albon born 1739 at Henlow, so the 1719 Arlesey William could be in the running. I am slowly going through the whole register so if I find any new information will let you know. Patti when you found William Albon in the Henlow Parish records, did it mention who his parents were and where they where from? If it did, please could you let me know.
