    3. Hi "Steve" I think it's OK to write to a possible relative, as if they're really not interested they'll just ignore it. Also, even if they aren't interested, they may know someone in their family who is. Always enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope of course. Apart from the garage, there are 6 Inwards in the local phone book, which covers the Luton area and includes Hockliffe and Chalgrave. One of them is G W Inwards who lives at 61 Wingfield Road, Tebworth, which I think is in the parish of Chalgrave, so that's probably a good one to try. Have you used this site to look up addresses and phone numbers? http://www.192.com/search/search.cfm Regards Diana ----- Original Message ----- From: Florence To: BEDFORD-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 3:04 PM Subject: [BDF] Inwards hockcliffe and charlgrave HI Cath and Diana First thank you both for your replies. Diana I live up North, I did not know about the garage. Cath I have used the site you recommended and I have just purchased the Hockcliffe and Charlgrave registers. both of which I look at lat year when I visited the Bedford Archives so I am now able to double check my own research. As you say I have posted before but my reason for trying again is I hope that Margaret Goodwin is still on this list as she was to pass my e-mail address to a family of Inwards near her and as yet I have not heard from them. I believe the information they have is from some one in Cornwall and as one of my Ancestors moved to Somerset between 1871 and 1881 and remarried down there and as far as I know had one daughter Hannah Inwards. I have tried the Somerset List but not the Cornish one as yet.I have found one Inwards on the 192. com site but do not feel taht I could really write to them as not everyone is into our hobby. regards "Steve" ==== BEDFORD Mailing List ==== When REPLYING to a message sent to the list decide if this is information that all the list members would like to know about or whether it would only be of interest to the individual you are replying to.

    3. Hi, I'm new to Bedfordshire research, but I think I may have a stray who turned up in Shefford in 1891. John BLACK, b.1880 in Yorkshire is listed as an Inmate at the St. Francis Orphanage for Boys there. Does anyone know if records for the home still exist, and if so where they might be? I'd like to find out if this is "my" John Black (a great-uncle), otherwise missing in the 1891 census, but listed with the wrong birthplace. Patrick Cumbria UK

    3. Hi Peter There is no marriage of a Robert Riseley in Hunts Marriage Index 1754-1837, so it doesn't appear to have taken place in Hunts. Yet another wishful thinking member submission on the IGI! A Robert Riseley age 76 was buried in Gt Catworth on 30 June 1829, and a Mary Riseley age 82 on 23 May 1837, which is possibly where the IGI entry came from. The first Riseley burial in Gt Catworth wasn't until 1818 so it doesn't appear to have been a local family name. Regards David Peter Seabrook <peterseabrook@onetel.com> a écrit : Aileen Interested in your Riseley information as I am trying to trace the marriage of a Robert Riseley and Mary ? , who were the parents of Maria and Catherine, both of whom ended up in Tasmania in the early 1800s. The IGI shows Robert's birth in 1753 and his marriage to Mary ? in 1779, both at Great Catworth, Huntingdonshire, but this is only information provided by someone after 1991 and possibly not reliable. I wonder if this links in to your Riseleys and, if so, whether you can confirm any of the above and perhaps Mary's maiden name and birth details? 3. Thanks Dave for your reply. Unfortunately those KING names do not connect at present. The earliest I have is George KING born about 1808 Billington Bedfordshire. I do not have any females as recorded for his children. Joseph KING had a sister Martha KING born about 1867 We have been searching for years for Joseph King wondering where he disapeared. 3. Hi List I am trying to find my husband's great grandfather Joseph KING born 1869 Billington, Bedfordshire. He is recorded on 1881 Census 12 years.Cottages Swan Street, Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire, England PRO ref RG1/1644 Folio 34 Page 3 FHL film but not on the 1891 and 1901 Census. I presume he was still alive by then as he had a daughter Hilda Sybil KING born 18th January 1903.. Two sons prior to this - Albert F. KING born abt 1898 and Ernest abt. 1900. (both sons killed on the WW2 - unable to locate Albert F. KING death details) Wife: Suzanna(h) BIERTON married 31st May 1897in the Parish Church of Pitstone, Co. Bucks, England His parents are Charles KING born abt 1845 Billington, Bedfordshire, England and Mary Ann...... Would somebody be able to check Military Records to see if JOSEPH KING is recorded between 1891 and 1904. I am not too familiar with what Wars may have been active at that time. Maybe BOER WAR records. There was some talk that he went to India with the Boer War. We have checked Census records with out success. He is recorded deceased 18-May-1918 on his daughters marriage certificate. Thanks Mary Linning Australia
