    3. Hello Pamela, I do apologize for putting you to so much trouble my dear, but I have to admit to a little subterfuge. Last year I put an entry into the Royal Air Force Magazine (of which I am a life member) asking if anyone had any news of four exRAF guys that I was stationed with at #34SFTS Medicine Hat, Alberta, from 1941 to 1944. Been trying to find if any of those old twerps were still alive. I'm 88. Didn't hear a thing for months, but suddenly two days ago I get an e-mail from a David Spicer saying he was in Medicine Hat in those days as a four year old and his dad was in the Maintenance Wing, as I was. He also included a large photograph of all of the Maintenance Wing. I was tickled pink and replied straight away - but it came back as undeliverable. Was beside myself - all that info and photographs and the stupid address did not work. Whatever could I do ??? Having been involved years ago with finding my ancestors, got onto 24 of those web sites and sent off that message. Had to tell a little fib because they will not let you try to find someone who is still living. Had a few responses but nothing that was helpful. then remembered the RAF people and e-mailed them; don't know what the lady did, but next day there was an e-mail from David; same address but now it worked OK. As my wife always says: if you want the job done right give it to a woman !!! who am I to argue ?? So everything is now working very nicely, thank you very much; all I have to do is unsubscribe from all those 24 web sites. I have been living in the States for the past 40 years, 20 miles south of Seattle in Washington State, only 2 or 3 hundred miles from Medicine Hat, but never had the opportunity to revisit the place where I met and married the most beautiful girl in the whole wide world. 3. Hello Jenny, A marriage prior to 1 July 1837 would be *MOST* unlikely to give his father's name, while any Parish named would be where he was living at the time, and not where he was born. It just may give his age - if he was under 21. The forms used for Marriage Registers didn't ask for the information you're hoping for - and so it wasn't provided :-( However, you just may be lucky if they had married by Licence - for *IF* the "application form" has survived, that may give a little more detail. But the chances aren't all that great... I'll hope for you that you ARE lucky!
