    3. Thanks Peter, for the input. There is conflicting info on the origins so have followed several avenues of research. The lack of Lilley family or relatives around Stotfold is an indication that it might have been an elopement...or he might have been in a regiment stationed nearby. Thanks for the ideas...all in put helps. Cheers, Anne

    3. Hi Ann, Are you sure she was from Stotfold? Perhaps somebody will be able to look at the Parish Records for the marriage. I looked at IGI and of only three possibilities in Bedfordshire, one died and another would be about 33 when married. I notice there is a user submission derived from the marriage record suggesting a birth around 1775 in Stotfold but giving no parents. However, when you go to Lincolnshire there are a lot more possibilities for Ann Lilley. It wouldn't be the first time people eloped and married elsewhere. Have you found Nathaniel and Ann in 1841 and 1851 census, although they would be getting on a bit. It looks like they moved back to Lincolnshire where they had all their children. Perhaps if they survived to 1841 it will at least show if she was born in the county. Peter

(4) David ELLIOTT bn 1824 Bushmead married Hannah PERKINS in 1849. (5) James ELLIOTT bn Eaton Socon who married Rebecca JAMES in 1841. (6) Sarah ELLIOTT bn Eaton Socon married John RUFF in 1839. Hannah ELLIOTT bn Eaton Socon married William CROW in 1841. I am particularly interested in identifying Jane/Jemima ELLIOTT who was born in Colmworth in abt 1871. John ELLIOTT came from Rusden Northhamptonshire in abt 1779. I am the G/G/Granddaughter of Ann Elliott and would be very happy to share my Australian research on the family of Robert and Ann CASE. 3. No, the 1883-1914 Army Service papers are not online, unfortunately. This was original research I did at Kew. However, I do wonder with the more recent publication of the 1914-1920 series on ancestry, whether ancestry might not be involved in a publication exercise of this set of papers. I went to Kew yesterday and there were lots of large "bill boards" on behalf of both ancestry and findmypast advertising their partnership status with the TNA. Our own Gt. Uncle from Bucks joined the King's Rifles and served in Africa. On return was demustered or what ever they do and was living in Hertfordshire. At the start of the War he either volunteered or was called back and joined the 1st. Battallion Bedfordshire Regiment as being the nearest, I assume. As he was 42 it could mean he was a reservist. Its ironic that they were in the same place at the same time in 1915. Have you checked whether his sevice record survived? Not sure will be of any help but you are welcome. I would be particularly interested in lists of soldiers in service there around 1900 - 1909. My gt grandfather died at Ypres in 1915. He was Pvt 3/6538 Arthur Loveridge. I have been told by a historian that the number indicates that he was a member of the 3rd battalion and therefor a special reservist. However, according to the CWGC site he was a member of the 1st battalion at the time of his death. Not sure why this difference of opinion should occur. I am wondering if he might have seen earlier service around 1900 since I can find no trace of him anywhere on the national index for the 1901 census. This led me to wonder if he might have been overseas with the army at the time. Although he was born in Fenny Stratford Bucks in 1880 and was still there in 1891 we know that he lived in Kempston for some time between then and his death. My grandfather was born in 1909 and Arthurs address was given as 20 Church Walk Kempston at his death. I do hope that someone can help me to gain some additional information.
