The first I found was that she married Victor Lober in 1928, but this was problematic, because I have other evidence to indicate that she and Victor were married no later than 1926. The second piece of evidence was that Hope Beckwith married a Vic King in 1925. After studying the information on the marriage license, I reached the conclusion that Vic King and Victor Lober were one and the same person! The 1928 marriage license indicated that Hope had been married once before, and that her married name from that previous marriage was 'Coen'. The 1925 marriage license indicated that Hope had been married TWICE before, with her previous married name being Mrs. Alexander Cohen. The similarities on the 1925 and 1928 licenses is what led me to believe that Vic and Victor were the same person. The major difference I found is that Victor apparently just pretended to be a 'King' rather than a 'Lober': He listed his father's last name as 'Joseph H King', instead of 'Joseph H Lober', but it seems that he didn't change his mother's maiden name (they were spelled differently, but closely enough that it could easily have been a transcription error by the clerk), the birthdates were the same, and the handwriting of 'Vic' on the 1925 license was very close to the first three letters of 'Victor' on the 1928 license. So it appears that neither Hope nor Victor were being completely truthful on either license. ;-) (The third license I found for Hope Beckwith documented her marriage to Alexander Cohen. This license indicated that she was married once before; I don't remember when that marriage was or what her first married name was. I haven't followed up on that.)
