There are photos of him and a history of his life as a fur trader. He was born in St. Louis, MO sometime between 1798-1803, but the author was unable to determine the name of his mother at the time the book was written. There was a lot of confusion over the name of Miskell and who it actually belonged to. There is a second book (or should I say first) that was published in the 1800s and was dictated to a guy named Bonner by our guy.
