I'm a Canadian Beckwith but crazy about the family history. I am confused about the dates surrounding Mathew (one or 2 t's...I always thought it was 2). I went to Old Lyme and spent a few days sorting through old documents. Matthew's signature was the first one on the town charter that was signed in 1635. Yet I see all sorts of different dates associated with him. How did he come and where did he come from? I'd love to be able to read the book. Do you suppose they have any copies in Canada?
