The first Beckwith in my line to come to Australia was William John Beckwith between 1854 and 1856. His father's family came from Houghton le Spring in Co Durham. Parents were John Beckwith and Mary Mowbray circa 1790's. I don't have anything prior to that time. William's sister and half siblings all went to the USA. William John and Eliza Walsh had a large family in Woodend, Vic and also lived in Rochester, Vic. Some of the family in the next generation lived in Undera, Mooroopna and Tatura.
