Longmont Ledger (Longmont, Boulder County) Oct 15, 1920 Page 7 BECKWITH At her home in Longmont, Saturday morning, October 9, 1920, Mrs. Terrasina S. Beckwith, aged 74 years, 4 months and 3 days. Mrs. Beckwith has been a sufferer for a good many years and he death was not unexpected. She was the wife of Elmer F. Beckwith, who for many years was the editor of the Longmont Times. Mrs. Beckwith was a pioneer of the St. Vrain valley, for she came her in 1865. She was born in Bodenham, Maine, June 6, 1845. Moved with her parents to Brodhead, Wis., when about ten years of age, where she received her grade school education, and later attended a teacher college at Jamesville, Wis., afte which she taught school in Brodhead for two yars. She came to Colorado in 1865, settling in old Burlington, south of the present Longmont, just across the ST. Vrain. She was one of the first school teachers of this district. She was married to Elmer F. Beckwith Juy 11, 1871. Together they founded the Longmont Press, for Mrs. Beckwith understood typesetting and was a good helpmeet. In the 1898 Mr. Beckwith was elected Secretary of State, and Mrs. Beckwith again assisted her husband by entering the Brand Department. Mr. Beckwith has been a worker, highly respected and loved by those who knew her best when she was in active life. She leaves, besides the husband, two sons, Elmer Francis Beckwith, Jr., and Fenton S. Beckwith and one daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Kl Bills The funeral was private and occurred Tuesday afternoon.
