I noticed that my Great2grandfather didn't really match my presumed Great3grandfather. My G2 is named William E Beckwith (1874) and I have found him in censuses with my grandfather, who I am sure of. My presumed G3 was Charles Wesley Beckwith (1847) son of William Erl Beckwith (1813). My problem is the Charles Wesley had a William G not a William E. I don't find any William Es (earlier than the ones I know) on this site or any in a digital search of Paul Edmond Beckwith's 1891 book "The Beckwiths." I also looked through a paper copy of Albert Clayton Beckwith's 1899 book "Marvin Beckwith of Southington" and found nothing. I was told that William E's dad worked the whaling ships and that his wife left him and he remarried. I don't get two wives for Charles Wesley. I did see that his presumed grandfather - William Erl Beckwith -- did have two wives. Perhaps that's who the story was about. Any help would be great (even if it's saying that William G and E are likely the same). Thanks in advance, Richard Beckwith Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
