His family belonged to the Akron Presbyterian Church. He attended elementary school at Boone County School District 24 and graduated from Albion High School in 1942. On August 8, 1947 Ross was united in marriage to Mary Karges. They lived and farmed northwest of Albion until 1981, when they moved to town. Mary passed away on June 7, 1992. On October 1 1997 Ross married Janet Henderson and they lived in Albion. Ross was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albion. He served on the Dennison School Board and the Co-op Board. Ross was also a member of the Albion Booster Club as well as the UNL Beef Club, and the Nebraska Cattlemen's Association. On Wednesday, February 2, 2005 Ross passed away at Bryan LGH in Lincoln at 80 years of age. He is survived by his wife Janet of Albion; daughter Linda Smith and husband Roger of Hot Springs Village, AR; 2 sons Bradley and wife Jane, and Charles Brian and wife Deb all of Albion; 7 grandchildren: Stacy Smith-Foley and husband Chris of Knoxville, TN; Jamie Jackson and husband Drew of Little Rock, AR; Jeff Beckwith and wife Stephanie, Megan, Sam, Beau, and Bobbi Beckwith all of Albion; 1 great-grandson Christopher Foley, Jr.; 2 stepsons: Steve Henderson and wife Connie of Huxley, IA; Kevin Henderson and wife Laura of Aurora, NE; 5 step-grandchildren: Hadley Henderson and wife Abby; Stephenie, Shea, Ashton, and Brock Henderson, and his mother-in-law Gladys Larson of Bertrand, NE. Ross was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, grandson Jesse Beckwith, sister Anna Mae Schmadeke, 2 brothers: Ralph and John Beckwith. ..............................................
