    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Ann_rennison1 Surnames: Beckwith Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beckwith/1288.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I'd love to help but have no contact with the one cousin who's DNA might have been useful, I've no idea where he is. As far as my tree is concerned, this was researched long ago and is paper based (very fragile by now from having been folded and unfolded so many times) and the sources of information aren't listed. I do know that lots of the information came from the Archbishops of Durham and York Cathedrals. The only book I can see mentioned is "General Beckwith, his Life and Labours among the Waldenses of Piedmont" by J P Meille, pastor of the Waldensian church at Turin, 1873. This is of course 2 centuries after Marmaduke. I will get round to inputting all this on the Ancestry site but at the moment I'm trying to bridge the gap between what my mum has been able to tell me (and the Certificates she gave me) and a William Beckwith born in 1795. The line seems to stop with him but as I've discovered, even when a male is shown as "died unmarried" it doesn't mean the! re are no issue. The William I'm looking at had at least 2 and possibly 3 children with a woman before he married an heiress! My mum is 83 and the last of her siblings so for her sake I'd love to solve this. What makes it even more of a task is that it seems every first male child was named William - a nice tradition for them but confusing for me. I've seen that connection made on a few different trees, but haven't been able to track down an original source or confirmation of that. I'd be interested to see your tree and what sources they used. I've also begun Y-DNA testing and have made some progress with my US ancestry that way. Do you have any male Beckwith relations that might be interested in a DNA test? It would be exciting to finally pin down the connection back to the UK. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Ann_rennison1 Surnames: Beckwith Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beckwith/1288.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, I'm fairly new to Ancestry and have seen your query (from 1 Nov 2011) about Mathew being the son of Marmaduke. I have a family tree which was researched in the 1960s and shows the English Beckwiths. Marmaduke had several children - Thomas, William, Roger, Symon, Jane, Anne, Alice, Grace and Katherine. Roger had a son called Matthew and I'm currently in correspondence with someone else who is looking for the American Mathew (I'm in the UK) and I'll mention your post. However, if the info I have is of any use to you, please let me know and I can add further. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Their son Edwin was born in 1836 and lived his whole life in Lake County as well, dying in 1915. Could Russell Beckwith be her father? The dates seem right. Any help would be wonderful!!! 1. [BECKWITH] BECKWITH Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of L. D. BECKWITH which was taken at the C. W. Lucas Studio in Brodhead, Wisconsin. The photograph is dated 4 Jan 1892 with the young man in the photograph likely in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research and thanks to a BECKWITH Family Researcher I was able to gather the following information regarding this young man and his family: Loring Dumas BECKWITH was b. 16 Oct 1872 in Longmont, Colorado to parents Frederick Clark BECKWITH (b. 22 Jan 1840 in NH) and Louisa Patten FISHER (b. 1840 in ME). Author: bobbiepkr Surnames: Beckwith, Bickwit, Beckwit Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beckwith/1294/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi..just starting on Ancestry and researching further into the Beckwith lineage. My paternal grandfather (as per father's birth certificate) is Irving Jack Bickwit with birthplace of Brooklyn, NY born in 1906. In his 20's, Irving was living in Florence, Ariz and had wed a Las Vegas singer by the name of Mae Leone Ohler. They gave birth to my father, Leonard Jack Bickwit on Aug 22, 1927 spelling as per birth certificate. Irving was raised in the Jewish faith and Mae was not of that background so they separated and Mae returned to California with Leonard Jack Bickwit. She gave my father the name of Jack Leonard Pool. All legal documents in my possession have a variation of name of father and grandfather. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
