Mother is listed as Donna Beckwith. I have no idea which line I belong to. But I have been tested at Family Tree DNA and based on the results I don't believe I could belong to this line. However you are more than welcome to use my information. How would I get my test to you - if you do actually wanted. I did the mtDNA plus one upgrade and one Family Finder. Should I just go the the R-U106 group on FtDNA and ask to join? best, Jackie Wilson wilssearch@me.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We are working from a test of the recently-deceased Richard J. Beckwith, who claimed descent from the main (de Malbisse) line of Beckwiths. We are interested in proving this lineage through DNA and showing when certain mutations in his DNA arose, but cannot do that without your help! We're also interested because the Beckwiths are one of 120-or-so families who are related in Classical antiquity to the House of Wettin, which includes several European royal families, including the British House of Windsor, the Belgian Royal Family, and the old Portuguese and Bulgarian royal families. As the Beckwith/Malbisse line is so long, testing this family could really help put the Beckwiths' descent in context. The testing company we use for preference is Family Tree DNA but existing tests from other companies are also welcome. An initial 12-marker relationship test costs US$49 P&P, though if a relationship is confirmed, further upgrades would be helpful. I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Hello Beckwith Researchers! I have just joined the list, but have done a fair bit of research on my Beckwith line, /Henry/ to Dorchester County, MD in the early 17th century, and have been over a lot of the reference material I have seen in reviewing the list archives. However, having been away from Beckwith research for several years, I'd like to know if anyone has actually made a documented proof positive connection to any of the early Virginia Beckwiths (excepting Marmaduke and his descendants), specifically, "William of the First Supply," my Henry or George who came to Maryland in the 1600's? Thanks for any help on this! -- *Carroll Jefferson Collins*

I've been researching the Beckwith side of the family tree! If you're wondering who Beckwith Bruce's father is, it is a Sir William, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_de_Brus,_3rd_Lord_of_Annandale Her mother is Beatrice de Teyden. Beckwith Bruce married Hercules de Malebisse, who then changed his last name to Beckwith in order to secure land titles she possessed. I hope this helps you guys! He was buried at Tanfield 28 December 1679. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Buck of Filey and she was buried in Tanfield on 24 September 1674. Their children were John born 1654, who married Castiliana Copley on 28 September 1675. John died 1688 and his three children John Castiliana and Elizabeth all died in infancy. The 2nd son, William was born 22 November 1664, married Mary Chaloner and was buried at Laughton on 3 October 1713. They had a further four children, Susana, Mary, Elizabeth and Martha but I have scant information about them. As I'm not researching this part of the family just now I haven't yet worked out the connection with the US but will in time be putting this info on a family tree. If this has been helpful and you have any more questions, please let me know. Regards - Ann Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: cowbaron1892 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beckwith/1307/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm helping a friend find out who his family is. He grow up in Oklahoma, and the only family he knew was his father, Sam Beckwith, and his father's sisters, Alma Beckwith and Geneva Beckwith. They neverspoke of the father George Beckwith at all unless it was to say something bad. In doing my research, I found that his grandfather was George Ransom Beckwith, born 1853 in Westfield, Toiga county, Penn. and he is said to have died in 1910, but I know he didn't died til around 1947, give or take a year or so. He was married to Sarha Beckwith in Iowa and they came to Oklahoma during the land rush. Sometime after 1900 she and George went their different directions. She would return to Iown and live with her son Orrin til she died in 1915. George went on and he remarried, though I can't find nothing there. But in 1910 he is living with a lady named Pearl Beckwith, she is the sister and James "Mat" Lankford. I have read one family tree that says she was married to a guy named Dunn, but it is the wrong Pearl Lankford. Here is a few things I'm looking for, 1)Where is George and Pearl buried? 2)why did their children hate him so? 3) and why did some of his younger children get put into an orphanage in Ft. Smith, Ark.? There are many things that just aren't clear. but I have photo's of both families in the hands of Sam Beckwith's son. And he knew some of George's older children, they talked and cared for one another. So if you think you know something please let me know. Oh, and I have the photo's from the LAnkford side of the family too, so before anyone sends me nasty meggahes again, please take time to remember, You might have made a mistake, we are not perfect.
