I have the opposite problem, I have a boy born in 1862, William H. Beckwith, and his sister born in 1864, Ella M Beckwith, that I am unable to connect with Beckwith parents. I have these two living in Erin, Chemung county, New York in the 1880 census with Charles and Margaret Elston along with 3 Elston children and listed as stepson and stepdaughter. Although Margaret could be their mother, I have yet to locate a Beckwith who could be their father.......or even a Beckwith married to a Margaret of the appropriate age. Supposedly, he died in Willet, Cortland, New York. All information I have is from Beckwith Notes. Daniel married Lucy Perkins. Children were Dorcas, John, Jabish (my gggrandfather who married Polly Button abt. 1804 and died in French Creek, Chautauqua, New York. He and Polly are buried in Tefft Cemetery, French Creek. I am searching for information about my 2nd great grandmother, Susan Elizabeth Beckwith. She was born 02 Apr 1823 in East Lyme, CT and died 14 Dec, 1902 in Old Lyme, CT. She married John Bump on 04 Sep 1842 in Lyme, CT and they were married by Rev. D.S. Brainard. I have all that info, but I cannot find out who her parents were. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I also am from another Beckwith, Penelope, was born 1766 in Lyme, CT, married John Bump 21 Feb 1784 in Lyme, CT and died 10 Mar 1794 in Lyme, CT of Small Pox. She is buried in Sterling Cemetery. I have her lineage on her fathers (Barzillai) side, but only her mother (Mary Butler). Her lineage goes back through Father: Barzillai, Grandfather: George (1703-1793) married Sarah Browne, G Grandfather: Jonah Beckwith (1673-1721) married Rebecca DeWolf, GG Grandfather: Matthew Beckwith (1637-1727) married Sarah Griswold, GGG Grandfather: Matthew Beckwith (1610-1680) married Elizabeth Lynde. The only thing that I have on Penelope is a church record of her death and a photo of her gravestone. I do know that John and Penelope were married 21 Feb 1784. She was born 1766 in Lyme, CT. I have no records of those, but my family had a geneologist do a family history and she came up with that info for us. I believe she got the info froma book in the CT State Library in Hartford. The name of the book was (I believe) Descendants of Edward Bompasse (or something like that). If you get any more info, could you please share with me and I will do the same for you. He moved from Frederick county Md with many other families of Frederick Co Md such as Carmack, Justice, Chilcote, McLain, Dodson, and White's to Bedford Co Pa where he stayed until around 1800. He moved on to Ohio (Muskingum, and Perry Co) where he died. I believe he had a brother George that settled in Morgan Co. OH, next to Muskingum and Perry Co OH. I am trying to determine if Susan Beckwith, wife of Allen McLain, son of Jacob from Muskingum county is David's daughter.
