I'm a Canadian Beckwith but crazy about the family history. I am confused about the dates surrounding Mathew (one or 2 t's...I always thought it was 2). I went to Old Lyme and spent a few days sorting through old documents. Matthew's signature was the first one on the town charter that was signed in 1635. Yet I see all sorts of different dates associated with him. How did he come and where did he come from? I'd love to be able to read the book. Do you suppose they have any copies in Canada? Thats when this geneology says Hugh d'malebisse our ancestor and from this document, donor of our original last name was in the roles of William the conqurer. Also have found our name in the doomsday book. I am from the new england planter side of the family probably decended from John who came to Nova Scotia in 1761. I'd be happy to help if I can. I'm desperately seeking Noble Beckwith who died in Bridgetown Nova Scotia in 1880 aged 65. He's my great great, but I have no idea where he came from or how he links to the rest of the family. Father is Thomas Beckwith, born May 27th, 1969 and mother is Jung Park, born December 27th, 1969. I don't know much about my father's history and it's a topic that has that "off-limits" aura around it when we're together, so I don't ask, but I want to figure out more information about my roots on his side. I don't know much about my dad's past except he spent time in New York (he's a New York Jet's fan) and Illinois (not too sure) i visited my grandmother on his side ocasionally, she lived with an "Aunt Trudy" and I believe her first name was Shirley. All my information is rather sketchy but I hope someone recognizes a name or something, figuring out my lineage is something I really want to know in the future. Hi Tamz4u The Beckwith's you mailed me do not sound familiar, however, saying that I dont really know alot about them. I have a great grandmother who married a Welsford. Her names were Agnes Cecelia Beckwith. I will store this information anyway and see where it may lead as I am looking for her parents and siblings.
