Hi Shelley, I was just reading your letter about the Beckwith family that came on my email. My husband's family, is related to the Beckwith family as well other families. My husband's family all live in Oregon and I have been having a field day with the family. I have found they are one of the first family that came across the Oregon Trail. They have streets, cities, counties, roads, just to mame a few named after them. I have been working on the family since 1998. I have gone back clear to the Lords and Ladies in the 1200's. The pictures I have gotten out of my mother-in-law's photo books, I have done some work on them to make them better. I have enlarge them so can see what the look like. I have made copies to pass on the different members of my husband's family. I need to scan all the ones I had fixed so I can email to other family members. Yes, there are a lot of them. I have been having fun with all the names and information I have found so far. I have been sharing what I have with other families as they have shared with me. If you still have the pictures and information I would like to have them so I could add them on my information and share with rest of the family in Oregon, as well other family in the other states. I live in the state of Washington since my husband had retired from the Army of 20 years. We are close to his family in Oregon and able to visit them. If you could let me know if you are willing to send them to me, please let me know. I would be willing to pay for the postage. Dear List Members, I am in search of information on a Joel K. BECKWITH who was born 01 Sep 1924 in San Diego, CA and died 28 Mar 1993 in Marionville, MO. The only other detail I have on him is that his mother may have been Aileen JONES (d/o Edward F. JONES & Mary Elizabeth REDFIELD). Any information that will lead me to living members of his family would be greatly appreciated. I am in hopes of finding a photograph of Edward F. JONES for the Kitsap County Clerkâs Office. They are trying to find the photographs of all former County Clerks and Edward F. JONES is one of two individuals that they are missing. NovaScotian;NB, LymeCT;Who is Noble Beckwith's Dad Becky Matthews (Wyswietl posty) Napisano: 25 maj 1999 7:54 My maiden name is Janet Beckwith. My crowd emigrated to Nova Scotia in 1758 from Lyme CT. I believe my forebearer's name was Matthew (probably named after the original.) He took over lands deserted by Acadians after they were expelled. The grant was in Cornwallis My great great grandfather was named "Noble" ( not a common handle). But somehow he arrived in Nova Scotia (the annapolis valley)from somewhere else in the early in the 1800's. We are not sure where he came from! We are pretty sure he was a decendent of Matthew the owner of the acadian lands. The historical record of that area, says he came from New Brunswick. But these could simply have been shipping records. Since the period from 1760 to 1815 contains the American revolution, my hypothesis is that someone left NS to go to the states to help with the war. When they got there they married, and had children. Noble is either a son or grandson of that union. But it creates a missing link in our family.Has anyone heard of a Nobel Beckwith?Who are his parent s and grand parents? Worden is a middle name in the family as is Hartz. BECKWITH, age 97, died peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2014. A proud WWII Army Veteran, Tom was a kind good hearted man, married for 71 years to his beloved wife, Jane F. Beckwith (nee Ludlow, deceased). Loving father of Thomas (Carol), Barbara (Fred) Mooney, Deborah and David; devoted grandpa to Thomas Beckwith and Benjamin (Brigid) Mooney; and proud great-grandpa to Andrew Mooney. Tom grew-up on Groveland Club Drive in Cleveland, Ohio on the shores of Lake Erie. His final moments were spent watching a rainbow form over his much-loved lake from his hospital window. Services were private. A memorial celebration of Tom & Jane's lives is to be scheduled. In memory of Tom, go down to Lake Erie and enjoy the view. David C. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: PStaub0618 Surnames: Lober, Beckwith, Fox, King, Coen, Cohen Classification: marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beckwith/1316.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found 3 marriage licenses for Hope Beckwith. The first I found was that she married Victor Lober in 1928, but this was problematic, because I have other evidence to indicate that she and Victor were married no later than 1926. The second piece of evidence was that Hope Beckwith married a Vic King in 1925. After studying the information on the marriage license, I reached the conclusion that Vic King and Victor Lober were one and the same person! The 1928 marriage license indicated that Hope had been married once before, and that her married name from that previous marriage was 'Coen'. The 1925 marriage license indicated that Hope had been married TWICE before, with her previous married name being Mrs. Alexander Cohen. The similarities on the 1925 and 1928 licenses is what led me to believe that Vic and Victor were the same person. The major difference I found is that Victor apparently just pretended to be a 'King' rather than a 'Lober': He listed his father's last name as 'Joseph H King', instead of 'Joseph H Lober', but it seems that he didn't change his mother's maiden name (they were spelled differently, but closely enough that it could easily have been a transcription error by the clerk), the birthdates were the same, and the handwriting of 'Vic' on the 1925 license was very close to the first three letters of 'Victor' on the 1928 license. So it appears that neither Hope nor Victor were being completely truthful on either license. ;-) (The third license I found for Hope Beckwith documented her marriage to Alexander Cohen. This license indicated that she was married once before; I don't remember when that marriage was or what her first married name was. I haven't followed up on that.) I know that she married Victor Lober sometime before 1926 and lived in Newark, Ohio before moving to Inglewood, California before 1930. I found a 1930 census entry for her, but nothing for 1920 or earlier. I also know from her death certificate that her mother's maiden name was Fox.
