    1. [BEAVERS] FW: New Oregon and genealogy lookup/research site
    2. Mildred "Mickey" Fournier
    3. I thought this might be helpful to some of you. Your list mom, Mickey -----Original Message----- From: Dean Armstrong [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, February 21, 2002 3:09 AM To: [email protected] Subject: New Oregon and genealogy lookup/research site Lawrence County List Administrator http://www.historicaloregon.org/ This is a new site that has been started by a group called Historical Oregon Information Services. It is a non-profit group to help individuals and groups access information about Oregon and it's history. Our site includes free services such as "look-ups" on Oregon, newsletter and a guest book. We also have books at low prices covering Oregon cemeteries, Oregon towns and World War II. At Historical Oregon Information Services we hope that this may be of some use to members of your group. Our "Look-Ups" on Oregon page covers towns, rail stops, ferries, stage stops, hard rock mines and schools as well as other types of places in the state of Oregon. In the future we will have cemeteries also listed. In most cases we have included any of the above listed items that pertain to the location name. This, however, is an ongoing project and updating our files is being done constantly. Under the name of the location, in most cases, we have the county in which it is located, Post office, Rail Road, location and any pertinent information regarding the location name. Our newsletter is sent out bi-weekly and has information pertaining to Oregon and its history. In the newsletter we cover such things such as name changes, multiple places with the same name, postal changes, new links, information about a place and other pertinent information about groups and their activities. We have link pages on genealogy and Oregon history. These links are listed in alphabetical order under appropriate headings. There are pages for genealogy and Oregon history with more headings to come in the future. At Historical Oregon Information Services we would also like to include any information regarding web pages, meetings and e-mail services pertaining to your group. We would be happy to include any of this information in our newsletter and or link pages for anyone that is interested. Thank you for your valuable time. We hope that you have found this to be of some benefit to you and your group members. We hope to hear from you in the near future. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Beavers, Harrison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RAD.2ACEB/496.1 Message Board Post: I have Beavers in my line, and have been searching for my Beavers for several years. A family story says that we had a Susannah in the family somewhere. I heard this many times from my Great-grandfather Beavers. In looking over what I have, I have a major discrepancy, but can't find the information needed to make the corrections. I have a John Thomas Beavers married Sara Ellen McCullock. They lived in Loudoun County Virginia and had 11 children: William Thomas, Ralph, Eva E., David, Bentley, Harry, Mary, Jessie M. (female, married Aubry Fox), Barbara E., James B., and Henry. William Thomas was my great-grandfather. Perhaps your line crosses my line somewhere.

    2. Alison Clement
    3. Renee, I descend from Mary Abigail BEAVERS (born 1849), who married my great grandfather, Jesse Dunavan. They lived in Jacksonville (Morgan) IL. I've find Jasper BEAVERS on the 1860 Scott County IL federal census, living with his wife, Eliza (age 26 born in IL) and their children: Loretta, 8 Emeline 4 Henry C 11 months On the 1850 federal census for Scott Co IL William BEAVERS age 30 farmer born IL Julia 26 IL John 3 IL Mary 1 IL 1860 federal census Scott Co IL Wm J BEAVERS 40 farmer born TN (TN is a discrepancy but I think it's the same guy) Julia 35 RI ( Rhode Island? Maybe a typo, not sure) John 12 Elizabeth 10 Julia 8 Solbert P 6 Wm E 4 Nelson L 1 I should say that all of the census mentioned above aren't actual hand written census but rather typed copies of them. I have a copy of a photo of the tombstones of "Ja. M. Beavers Died July 1, 1858 aged 21 years" and "Francis M. Beavers died Mar.4, 1862 aged 20 years" These tombstones are located a little north of Jacksonville (Morgan) IL. They were photographed by a man named Robert W Dalton in 1985. I think he was recording graves throughout that part of Illinois. His note says that there was no mention of either death in the newspaper of the time, no estate probated in Morgan Co, no marriage license for either man. In a later note, he adds "Later information shows that this James Beavers and Francis Beavers appear in the household of James Beavers in the 1850 census of Morgan County, Illinois." Do you know about the Illinois marriage index? It covers the years 1801-1855 and includes all Illinois marriages - it's online. There are a lot of Beavers. If you do a websearch, you can find it. Otherwise let me know and I'll get you the URL. My mom also researches the family and she lives near Morgan County and has access to records. I'll give her your address. In one census for James Beavers, his birthplace is listed as Ireland--do you know anything about that? I did find a Beavers in northern Ireland records once, just fooling around-- I think the Beavers there were French Huguenots, like the Fooshees. Some of them went to northern Ireland because of the protestant thing. I wonder if ours might have done this or if the birthplace listing is in error. Also, do you know anything about the Beavers in Roane County? It doesn't seem like they were there very long. I think they got land on the old Cherokee reservation (the Hiwasse district) when the whites broke a treaty they had with the Indians. I've got to go. Hope some of this helps. More later. best wishes, Alison >Hi Alison> I can not give you any information on James Beaver but I can >give you Info and Elizabeth Fooshee. I am looking for any information on >their children, William, James, John, George, Katherine, Jasper Newton, >Cynthia, Wiley, Nancy, Elizabeth, Marion, Leroy and Mary Abagial. >Elizabeth and James were married in Roane but she wasborn in North Carolina. >Please email me at [email protected] >Thank you >Renee > > >==== BEAVERS Mailing List ==== >If you would like to catch up on previous discussions, you can search for >previous messages containing a certain subject, such as a surname by >using http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl > >============================== >To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, >go to: >http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

I have a John J W Ables who married Mary A Stutts in Cross County, Arkansas...they had a son James W Felix Ables b:1871 who married Fannie Maud Thomasson (both are buried in St Francis County Arkansas). I believe Mary A Stutts (b:Jan 1, 1847) had a brother named Willis Russell Stutts (b:1849)...their parents Christian Christopher Stutts and Charlotte Beavers. Willis Russell Stutts married Frances Elizabeth Casteel, they had about 9 children...one of them being "Mattie Bell" Stutts who married John Lewis Harmon (died shortly after 1914 in Cross County, I think they are both buried at Union Grove Cemetery, Cross County, Arkansas)...Mattie Bell and John Lewis are my wife's grandparents...any connections ? Sure hope this rings a bell, any assistance is greatly appreciated. Will gladly assist in any way I can. Sincerely, Jim Powers
