It can be seen at: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=17728368 For what it is worth, Alexander died 21 Oct 1894 (as opposed to Oct 21, 1914 per your earlier post). I very recently took my kids to Roswell and visited Allenbrook house, where I was told that he was born. My great-grandmother Daisy Gillespie was born in 1903 I believe (she used to tell me about seeing Halley's Comet). They lived at 120 Maddox Dr in Ansley Park in Atlanta, which I think they built in 1922. All the property behind the house used to be owned together and was undeveloped except for the garage apartment where "Boot and Unk" lived, her sister and her husband Dewitt Todd (died 1984?). We knew Daisy as "Avee" and she died in August 1986. They had 2 daughters, Muriel "Bitsy" Dabney who married Jeff Dabney, and my grandmother Sara (who married Phil Alston, James Flowers (who died in 1966?) and William Richards (died 1987)). Bitsy died in 2010 at age 88, I think. My grandmother Sara died in 2007 at age 84. Who was your grandfather? I only remember stories about Avee's sisters. We have an old picture of her father David Gillespie receiving his gold watch at retirement in the 20's, from the park service I think. You can see his name on a plaque outside the Cyclorama, and he had much to do with building Grant Park. I never heard much about my great-grandfather. I believe he owned a liquor store off Peachtree, maybe together with Unk. He dropped dead of a heart attack in the bathroom and Sara told me of trying to give him CPR. I gave my son his middle name after his great-great-grandfather: Austin Greer Harris. Austin is 5 years old. I would love to learn from you all the names of the sisters and brothers of the Gillespies, including your grandfather. I've never known any Beavers other than my aunt and grandmother.. Author: georgiac45 Surnames: Beaver, Parker, Fitzgerald Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beavers/1130/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks to the ingenuity of cousin Jim we now know that the first wife of William H. Beaver was Cynthia Parker and have proven that his 2nd wife's maiden name was Fitzgerald. Before moving to Cass County, TX (see 1850 census) he was in McNairy County, TN. The documentation is found in Texas and Texans (McGraw Hill), p 1674. I see in the 1840 census that a John Beaver was listed right after W. H. and family; expect it may be a brother. Anyone know that for sure or have further information on him? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: JimR61475 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.beavers/1129/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching the Walters family in New Jersey (and perhaps adjacent Pennsylvania and New York areas). One of the key antecedents is Hervey Beavers Walters (1836-1935). On the assumption that the middle name reflects family heritage (rather than a love of dam-building giant semi-aquatic rodents), I am speculating that Beavers was the surname of one of HBW's ancestors, probably of the 2nd or 3rd degree. Does anyone on this board know of a connection? Jim Rake Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
