Many of you may get the RootsWeb Review email but like me, may not always have a chance to read it. This week I did get a chance to read it and found a great site that I thought I would pass along. It concerns information found in the National Archives and on microfilm that your local library might have or that you might be able to order through a LDS Family History Center. Wonderful articles that give tips and information on how to use these resources. A big thanks to Bill who sent in the tip to RootsWeb in the first place! CindyHMB ROOTSWEB REVIEW: RootsWeb's Genealogy News Vol. 4, No. 33, 15 August 2001, TIP OF THE WEEK May I suggest the following URL for your readers: <http://www.nara.gov/publications/prologue/artlist.html#genea>http://www.na ra.gov/publications/prologue/artlist.html#genea This page has reprints from the genealogy column in NARA's (National Archives and Records Administration) quarterly magazine "Prologue." There's some really useful information in these columns, helping readers to understand how to use goldmine of information that NARA has in its archives. Bill Principe ThePrincipes@earthlink.net
I'm trying to find the name of the mother of James BEAVERS. He was born about 1800- may have been born in Ireland (according to one census). He lived with his family in Roane Co, TN where he married Elysbeth FOOSHEE in 1819. James' father was William Irvin BEAVERS. I have his mother's name listed as Abigail but don't know if that's right. I'd like to find out her surname. The family eventually moved to Scott Co, IL. thank you, Alison Clement
Dear Estelle, The Robert Beavers who married Jane Little is the one who I think my Silas connects with (as his grandson through Robert's son Silas). However, I have only just begun to work on Robert Beavers & Jane Little; I am mostly still trying to support my Silas as his grandson much less who Robert's parents were. I found a ged on the web that has Robert as the son of Thomas who married Martha Clack (not Cargill) & has Thomas father as a John but some files say they were from Germany, some Ireland. I have not done any work on them, except for a source I found on the Clack-Beavers that I have skimmed but not researched yet. I would love to know more about Robert Beavers & Jane Little and their children as well as his siblings & parents Thomas and Martha. These Beavers & my Silas Beavers are all found close in GA and then I can trace descendants in areas of AR & TX where my Beavers are also found. Could be a family connection. I will be happy to share what I have but it is not much. I have worked long and hard on my Silas Beavers line and am only just recently even sure that he truly was named Silas and might be a connection to Robert's son Silas. I have worked those GA Silas over the coals to straighten them out. I may not be correct in what I have worked but at least I have some logical conclusions to work with! :) Hope to hear more from you soon. Hello Cindy, I just saw your email and wanted to ask a question. The Robert Beavers you mention you have the will and it mentions his children is this the same Robert Beavers that his wife was Jane Little and one of his sons was Reubin Beavers b. 1783 that married Mary one of the daughters of William Headen and Susannah Robertson. If it is the same, I sent some information several months back to this list. I got the information from someone and I don't recall from whom at this moment, but it said that Robert Beavers father was Thomas Beavers born 1718 in Ire. died before 8 Oct 1770 Laudens County Virginia. He married in Virginia in 1738 to Martha Cargill the daughter of John and Catherine Cargill. Thomas Beavers father was John Beavers born circa 1680-1690, and died after 1762. Let me know if this could possibly be the same person. My husbands maternal line ties into Reubin Beavers and Mary Headen and my maternal line ties into Mary Headen's father. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
