This is my 1st posting to the Beaty list. Eleanor BEATY married George BAXTER on Jan 9, 1794. Her marriage is listed in the private register of Robert Cathcart, Presbyterian minister to the York congregation, York County, Pa. Apparently the Rev Cathcart traveled though the area, ministering to several Presby. churches. The children of Eleanor and George were baptized by the Rev. Cathcart at the Hopewell Congregation. I believe Eleanor's father to have been John BEATTY, who is listed in Mifflin County Families and Records Before 1800, by Raymond Bell. "John BEATTY b. c 1737 d. 1823 m c. 1767 Elizabeth ... taxed from 1770 1790 1798 house $250 - James Criswell = brother-in-law Ch; George d yg, Hannah Dey, Margaret m. John Dull b 1781, Martha d. 1827, Jane m. John Ferrier, Eleanor m. Baxter, Elizabeth m. Robert Forgey, Susanna d by 1812 m. Alexander Stewart, Mary m. Thomas Knox."
