Nelda From: "Ingram, Dianne" <dianne.ingram@dat.com> To: "'Nelda Percival'" <nelda_percival@hotmail.com> Subject: RE: HANNAH BEATTY/b. 1756- d. 1847 Date: Fri, 12 Jan 2001 10:45:42 -0800 I am attaching my note to the Beaty list. I don't know if we connect or not. You mentioned History of Cumberland Co., Pa. It is very possible my James Beaty(Baty) was born in NC per the Fed. Census. AM guessing born about 1811-1821. I don't have a clue as to who his father was but I did notice in the Drew Co., ARk. Fed. Census of 1860 there is a Nathan and a Ashley Baty(Beaty). Are any of the below names in your family tree? Just fishing in the dark. dianne ingram in oregon My James Beaty shows up in the Monticello, Drew Co., ARk. court house with many land transactions starting in 1876. I have some BLM land transactions that start as early as July, 1844. Most of the papers include his wife Mary A. We know he had a son James, daughter Mattie, son Henry Martin and another son that died as a young boy when he fell out of a tree. This according to a grandson of James. There is a James Baty in the 1850 census for Springfield Twp. This James was born 1816. He has a wife of Mary A and one child named Martha R. In the 1860 Fed. Cen. for Marion TWP.Monticello PO there is a James Baty, 49yrs. born NC. Wife of Mary (looks like E) 30 yrs old born ARK. CHILDREN: Martha E. 11 yrs. John W. 2 yrs, and Mary 1/2 year. All born ARK. The boy James related stories to his brother Henry about Quantrell and stories about the Civil War. He reported knowing Frank and Jesse James. He died after the war while working for the "big" railroad. He was found with his head bashed in. The child Martha was born the same year as our Mattie (12 OCT 1849) Mattie may have been a nickname for Martha. She married John William Akin about 1869 and is buried in Mt. Pleasant Campgound Cem. Drew Co., Ark. Henry Martin Beaty was born 14 NOV 1867. Married a Mollie Taylor and a 'Lena Brewster. All are buried in Union Cem. Rye, ARk. He died 31 MAR 1863. There are other BATY's in the 1850 SpringHill Twp. Fed. Census: Nathan Baty and Ashley Baty. Could be brothers. Is any of this familiar to you? Assume these Beaty/Baty's came from NC. dianne ingram in oregon -----Original Message----- From: Nelda Percival [mailto:nelda_percival@hotmail.com] Sent: Sunday, December 17, 2000 4:40 PM To: BEATY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: HANNAH BEATTY/b. 1756- d. 1847 Hi Listers, I am Nelda Percival and Hannah Beatty is my direct lineage.
