Thomas and Martha Beasley/Beezley were living in Preble County, OH when their son Joseph was born on June 25, 1809. Joseph moved to Indiana, where he married, first, Elizabeth Lewis, and second her sister (or cousin?) Cynthia Lewis. I think he was, for a short time in 1831, a corporal in service during the Black Hawk War. He and his family moved to Iowa, and eventually settled in Madison County, and he became a prominent member of the Quaker Meeting (when he joined the Quakers I don't know). All I know about his parents is their names, although my father remembered hearing talk of their migrating to Ohio through the Cumberland Gap. Does anyone have information about this family, especially their origins? Bill Compton [email protected]
