I hope it's not too late to respond. William Crooms Beasley was my grandfather. He was born in 1899 and died in 1989. I feel certain that we are talking about the same one. The only discrepency is that you said that Thomas Daniel and William Crooms were brothers. My grandfather, William Crooms was the son of Thomas Daniel, my great grandfather. I think Thomas Daniel was born possibly, or even very likely in Pender County. I know for a fact that he raised his family in Wayne County and that he is buried in Wayne County in the Indian Springs Township area between Mount Olive and Seven Springs. Also, from what I know, I believe that his birth year was 1870. His father, my great great grandfather, Edward Beasley, a civil war veteran (Confederate) is buried in Pender County near Burgaw. I believe that may be where Thomas Daniel was born. I am told that Thomas Daniel was orphaned when he was about 7 years old and raised! by his mother's family. As a young adult, he worked for the old Wilmington-Weldon railroad in eastern NC as a brakeman. Crooms is a family name. If I am remembering what my dad told me correctly, Edward's wife, my great great grandmother was a Crooms (her maiden name). My dad is still living and could clear that up and answer more questions. I realize that it has been ten years since your original posting, but I would really like to hear from you. I have attempted tracing my family tree but I have had difficulty going back any further than James Beasley who I think was the father of Edward. If you have any further information to share, I would appreciate it. I hope this has been helpful. genebeasley@ec.rr.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
