The State Historical Marker society just rang me and told me that on Friday afternoon they approved as submitted our request for a Historical marker to be placed at the court house for Mary Cordelia Beasley-Hudson. I've just called the mayor and let him know that in a few days the letter will arrive and we'll need to send the previously appropriated money for the marker to be created. I think it is a great thing to finally have some lasting memorial for the first woman to vote in the state. Ladies this just goes to show if you keep at it you can get there. It only took Mary 90 years to get this recognition. We will be having another meeting of the event committee soon. I will email each of you when that date is set.
