    1. Re: [Beasley] John C. Beasley,Columbia County, Ark.
    2. Jan Ashford
    3. Jo, I suspect that John may be related to William Anders Beasley b. 1819, d. 1876 who shows up in Columbia and Ark. in earlier censuses. William was b. in SC, went to Ga at an early age, married there, migrated first to Ala and later to Ark. I looked into him a bit because he is supposed to be the son of James Beasley of Darlington SC. and I am interested in the Darlington Beasleys. It has been a while, but as best I remember, there are several Beasleys in Columbia Co. and all seem to be related to William. Obviously, your John is too old to be his son, but could easily be related. There is a second Ransom Beasley living in Nevada Co in 1880 and John C's son is living in Columbia Co. A couple of observations: If Nancy Beasley died in 1864, she could not have appeared on the 1870 census. Malone's wife Betty is way too young to be the mother of his daughter Nancy. 3. We have finally located our John C. (Clark?) BEASLEY on the 1870 Columbia County, Arkansas census. He shows to be born in Ga., and his wife, Nancy, born in Mississippi. Roll 50, Vol. 2, Page 459 Taylor Township, Enumerated on 2 July 1870 by James L. Story. Household 18, Visitation 18 John C. Beasley, age 46, farmer, born in Georgia, Citizen of U.S. Nancy, 45, wife, Mississippi Malone, 18, Arkansas (my husband's great grandfather) Ransom, 17, Arkansas Nancy, 11, Arkansas John, 8, Arkansas According to information shared by another researcher, Nancy died in 1864 and John C. Beasley married 18 July 1871 in Prescott, Arkansas to Mrs. Easter Ellen Rose (Kitchens) Tucker, and had 3 other children, Isacc IF., 1878, Martha and Thomas T. Beasley, dates unknown and no other information on them. Unable to locate John C. Beasley on 1880 Census but still searching. He was supposed to have died in 1897 when a tree fell on him while plowing and was buried in Arkansas, place unknown. Located Malone Beasley on 1880 census with wife "Betty", Charles Elizabeth TORRANS, and their children, Betty, age 17, Nancy E., 7, and Joseph Lossie, age 4 months. On this census, Malone shows to have been born in Alabama. Does anyone have any connections to this family and know where they were in 1860? We have reason to believe John C. Beasley was in Mo., before the war, but not sure of dates or when he moved to Arkansas. Since he was supposed to have been in the Confederacy, he may have moved to Arkansas and claimed land grants after the war. Thanks, Jo Autrey [email protected] http://www.usroots.com/~jautrey

    2. I have been doing some research on the Marion Co, AL census http://www.rootsweb.com/~almarion/marion1.htm and in the 1850 pp. 116b and 117a there are some Beasley's listed and on the next at the bottom of the page, which is hard to read there are some Sutton's listed. Just thought it might help.

    3. Hi Linda, The Family History Center is part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Their webiste is www.familysearch.org While you are there, you can search their databases. If you are interested in the book, you will have to search their Library Catalog. To rent the microfiche, you will have to go to your local Family History Center. If you are lucky, they may have a copy in their permanent collection in your local branch! Otherwise, you will have to view the microfiche at their facility once it arrives from Salt Lake City. Another option, of course, is to get the name and author of the book and see if your library has a copy or if they can get you a copy through interlibrary loan. MelissaDo you have the web site?? There is a book available through the Family History Center ( on Microfiche ) all about the Sutton - Beasley family. Wonderful stories and photo's. Be sure to check it out. I was able to get a great deal of information. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Faith Hill - Exclusive Performances, Videos, & more faith.yahoo.com

We are the great-grandchildren of Martha Barns and John Henry (Dick) Beasley, great-great grandchildren of Henry Larkin Beasley (died April 22, 1905). We understood that Henry Larkin Beasley was married to Maria Patterson born April 4, 1832, died April 3, 1899. They were married July 26, 1849. We also understand that Dick Beasley married Rose Abernathy and one of his sons, Uncle Austin (mother: Mary Jane Lecroy), married Jesse Abernathy, who were sisters. Henry Larkin and Maria Patterson's children were: William Calvin Beasley - Uncle Calv (DOB: 8/10/1851) John Henry Beasley - Dick (DOB: 10/15/1853) Issac Napoleon Beasley - Uncle Ike (DOB: 9/17/1857) Marry Beasley - Aunt Marry (DOB: 8/19/1861) Abner Monroe Beasley - Uncle Bud (11/2/1864) Amanda Beasley - Aunt Mandy (10/12/1868) Emer Beasley - Aunt Emer (DOB: 5/16/1871) We show John Henry Beasley's first wife as: Martha Barns Second Wife: Mary Jane Lecroy Children: Third Wife: Rose Abernathy We have been looking for more information on his first wife, Martha Barns. My father, Kinnie M. Beasley, is the son of John Calvin Beasley, son of John Henry Beasley and Martha Barns. Do you know where we might find the marriage certificates for any of John Henry Beasley's marriages? There is something mysterious about his first marriage and the circumstances of whether or not he actually gained a divorce before remarrying. We didn't have the information about Henry Larkin being buried at Poplar Springs Cemetary or also being known as Robert Larkin. Our Aunt Abbie Lee Beasley Matthews is buried in the cemetary at Andrews Chapel, Hanover, AL. Dick Beasley is also buried there as well as 2 of his wives. Red hair runs in our family. How about yours? Aunt Mandy Beasley Robinson told her daughter Mary Robinson Whitley Gibbs that Maria Patterson came directly from Ireland. Hope this helps.

    2. No. The first real record I have is a transaction between him and James Cannon is Pendleton Cty. S.C. in 1790. I think the 1790 Pendleton census recorded two Williams and in 1800 other Beasleys were listed in Pendleton Cty. One William is recorded as moving to Barbour Cty., Ala. John, Samuel and William are in the 1800 cenus and Samuel and Joseph in the 1810. William had one son named John, who moved into Franklin Cty, Gwinett, and then DeKalb. David [email protected]
