Hi Dick and all, >From the help of some Mercer researchers, I have been able to determine that Solomon Mercer who lived in Ware Co. GA before moving to FL is indeed connected to Silas Mercer Beasley Sr. Both descended from their immigrant ancestor Christopher Mercer who married Katherine Bigg. Does this agree with what you have? Do you know anything about the ancestory of Elizabeth Beasley, wife of your Solomon Mercer? I note on the 1850 Ware Co. GA census that she is listed as Nancy. Was Elizabeth a middle name?? I am speculating that she was a sister of Nathan and William Beasley who are listed living near her on the 1840 Ware Co. GA census. I look forward to your response. I'd be interested in researching to see if Solomon and Silas are connected on the Beasley side too. Melissa __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? 1. [Beasley] Silas Mercer Beasley, Sr.
    2. My records show Reverend Silas Mercer Beasley, Sr. (b 1795 SC/NC, d Apr 1865 Sumner Co, TN), bd Dodd Private Cemetery, Gallatin, TN); parents John Wesley Beasley I & Catherine Poole. Married 1824 Sarah Elizabeth 'Sally' Reese (born 22 Feb 1809 SC; died 1888 TN, buried Fuller's Chapel, Law Co, TN). Jim/June Palmer <[email protected]> wrote the following: "Silas & Sarah Elizabeth loved their children and gave stern training. He stated that he especially hoped that none would become selfish or greedy. He lived mostly in abandoned Indian villages where he would clear land, raise crops, improve the village and sell and move on to do the same things over again. During the two weeks that sixteen members of the Beasley family spent passing through the country between Decatur and Nashville it became evident that some of them had contacted some of the loathsome diseases so prevalant in the army. After living one night in a freight car at Gallatin, Silas Jr was able to secure an old building with two dirty rooms. All but one of the family members became sick with measles, diarrea and symptoms of smallpox. The family moved to a small old tenement house two miles North of Gallatin where Silas Sr died of measles at the age of sixty-seven. When a doctor arrived, only Silas Jr was able to sit up. Five family members died from smallpox, two had typhoid fever and some others lapsed into chronic diseases." The children Jim/June list for Silas and Sally are: Reuben; b 1825; md Martha A. 3. Kathryn and I have "talked" many times. My guess is that they are related in some way - a lot of coincidences. Several of John's children were married in Sumner County, TN.
