Surnames: Beasley, McCurdy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/plC.2ACEB/1082 Message Board Post: Hi. I recently came across the following census record and I believe that I might be related to one of the individuals listed therein. If anyone has any information on the family below, please contact me at: [email protected] Thanks. 1860 Morton, Scott County, Mississippi Census Daniel Beasley, 44, M, 1100, 1000, N. Carolina Caroline Beasley, 46, F, N. Carolina Amanda Beasley, 14, F, North Carolina ** Sarah Beasley, 10, F, North Carolina Frances Beasley, 7, F, North Carolina William Beasley, 6, M, Mississippi Parmelia Beasley, 5, F, Mississippi James Beasley, 4, M, Mississippi ** I believe that Amanda might be my ancestor. My Amanda married a man named Miles McCurdy sometime before 1869. Amanda appears on the 1880 Scott County, Mississippi Census with her husband and their children... McCurdy, Mike - self, m, m, w, 39, AL, farmer, fa:KY, mo:AL McCurdy, Amanda - wife, f, m, w, 28, FL, keeping house, fa:NC, mo:NC McCurdy, Lugenia - daughter, f, s, w, 11, MS, at home, fa:AL, mo:FL McCurdy, M. Mary - daughter, f, s, w, 8, MS, at home, fa:AL, mo:FL McCurdy, W. Robert - son, m, s, w, 6, MS, at home, fa:AL, mo:FL McCurdy, James C. - son, m, s, w, 4, MS, at home, fa:AL, mo:FL McCurdy, Dan T. - son, m, s, w, 2, MS, at home, fa:AL, mo:FL * It is (incorrectly?) stated on the census that Amanda's birthplace was Florida. Her parents birthplace appears consistant. Amanda's gravestone in Shiloh Cemetery in Yazoo Mississippi reads... Amanda McCurdy 1841 - 1927 If anyone has any information on Amanda or the aforementioned Beasley family on the 1860 Census, I would really appreciate hearing from you. Thanks for reading. 3. Tim - I have Beasley's in KY and OK, but the name Hallie is familiar. I have a John and Jane Beasley in Simpson County, KY 1820-1850; then their son Isaac and his wife, Elzada in Maries County, MO 1860-1880; and then they moved to Lincoln County about 1900-1910, where they died. Could there be any relationship? [email protected] wrote: > Hi David: > > How nice hearing from you. 2. Hi David: I must missed your inquiry about Philip Fairley Beasley but I did get Jim's reply to you. I do have a Philip Fairley in my family tree. Because he was a third cousin four times removed I have not done any real research on him. I have him born Oct. 20, 1846 in Alabama and died Sept. 11, 1924 in Utica, Mississippi. He was the son of John Allen and Lucy Amanda Beasley and was married to Lucy Ann Fowler. Email me at [email protected] if you have any questions.
