Rev Marion Beasley was not born in Ireland nor raised in Germany. He was born in Hardin Co TN to Daniel and Julia Ezell Beasley. Daniel was the son of Barnet and Susaana Baugh Beasley of Warren Co NC. Some of the Beasley's and a few other families moved from TN to Dunklin Co MO. After living near present-day Campbell MO for a number of years, the Beasley's along with a few other families moved to the Montague Co/Wise Co TX area. Not all the Beasley children moved to TX, some remained in MO. Debbi Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Linda, my Margaret Elizabeth Beasley was John's fraternal twin. I had located him on a census. When my dad was a boy they would go to Oregon. Dad would tell us some stories about these visits. This would be about the 1920-30. It was near a River as one story was about how they floated a cow down the River on a raft to be mated to a bull. Are surnames Cottmire, Altman, Weetman, Mc Dowell, Robinson, or Lauder familiar to you? Doug, Thanks, yes this Isaac was just one I stumbled across. We had bought the book at the gift shop at Pricketts Fort because of my husband's connection. My husband is a direct descendent of Col. Morgan Morgan through his son, David Morgan. With no further mention of an Isaac Beasley in this well researched (Now And Long Ago) about 700 page hard cover book it sounds like maybe this Isaac had no roots there but the Pricketts did. They are mentioned frequently. In fact Charity Prickett was considered the first white child born in the area. Interesting that some Prickets also have names of Isaac and Susanna. Maybe these first names were the Dick, Jane and Sally of the times. Good morning. I am a descendant of another William Beas(z)ley, R.S. who had a son, John, who had a son, Isaac. This William is first located in Pendleton County, S.C. in 1790. His son, John, moved to Franklin County, Ga., Gwinnett County, Ga, and finally to DeKalb County, Ga for the 1830 census. Any information of this line is appreciated. Because of the date mentioned, this wouldn't be the Isaac Beasley referred to in the series of notes below, but rather, his (possible) uncle. In John Beatty's article, he believes that my ancestor, John had a brother, Isaac, both sons of William Beasley and both Revolutionary war Veterans. We know that John Beezley had a son Isaac, because he is mentioned in his will. What we don't know is whether this Isaac is the one who settled in Indiana and had the descendants noted in this thread. I do appreciate the reference. I re-read Beatty's article and didn't find reference to it. I'll ask him about it. By the way, Beatty's article also indicates that Isaac, brother of John Beezley, married and had several children, including an Isaac, born in the mid 1790's. This family remained in Virginia as census records show. Doug JoAnne Martin wrote: > Doug, found your message quiet interesting. Doug, found your message quiet interesting. Sending you a scan of an Isaac Beasley mentioned in Marion Co. area of what would later be WV during the Revolution. I did find an Isaac Beasley did apply for a pension but was denied. It may have been this one. This is the only time a Beasley is mentioned in this book (Now and Long Ago)on page 305. Also if you look above there is mention of Pricketts Fort. My husband is related to the Prickets and have been to the fort about 10 years ago. It is near Fairmont, WV. I have been interested in this line. My ancestor John Beezley (various spellings at the time) was born in Virginia, served as a revolutionary soldier, married Sarah (Prickett, perhaps) and had seven children. He is listed as having a youngest son named Isaac who would have been born in the mid 1780's. After John's first wife died he married Rachel Prickett (married name) and around 1790 followed the Ohio river to what is now Cincinnati to claim land offered to Virginia soldiers. His family multiplied and spread north and east from there. What really interests me about this Isaac is that the timing, the proximity and the naming patterns used for their descendents are very similar. I've not been able to find any documentation that would prove the connection, but perhaps someone from your line could help. I would be most pleased to hear more from anyone from this line. Please check out my website http://beezley.net/genealogy. On the front page of that site I have a link to an excellent document by John Beatty, genealogical librarian at Fort Wayne, Indiana. He has not been able to find anything on our Isaac, but agrees that the possibility is there. The one thing that would be very exciting would be to find a male Beasley/Beezley descendant of this line who would be willing to submit a genealogical DNA sample to compare with mine. That could prove or disprove a connection of our lines. Please contact me for further discussion.
