Ray, I don't have info on this line, but just because he wasn't listed in the will, doesn't mean he is not a son. There were some in my family who gave their inheritance to sons at the time of marriage, so they were not in the will. If you haven't done so, check land records and see what you can find. The father, John, might have transferred land to Richard. I'm not familiar with the location of the counties you mentioned, but if they were next to each other, the lines might have changed. I have on family in Russell Co AL for a census, the in Lee Co, AL for the next. Finally they were back in Russell Co.I know they didn't move, but the county lines changed and then changed back again. Don't our ancestors make this fun? I'm trying to untangle some Beasley lines... Richard Beasley (b.1757 in NC) m. Margaret Day. Does anyone know who his parents were? Some on Rootsweb have him as son of John Pitts Beasley who died 1792 Warren Co NC. However, JPB's documented as being in Amelia Co VA until 1766, and then Warren Co. So it doesn't seem like this is right, if Richard was born in NC 1757. Others have him as son of a John Beasley m. Sarah Lilse. This John died in Chowan Co NC and doesn't mention a son Richard in will, at least in the abstract that I have. (And others have the same John Pitts Beasley as marrying Sarah Lilse, which also doesn't seem correct, as she died in Chowan Co, not Warren Co.) Others have him as son of James Beasley and Ann Pate or Taylor. But I have them as born in the 1750's, married 1773 - so it doesn't make sense if Richard was born 1757. Can anyone straighten this out?

I don't think this little book, Beasley Blood, by Mary Beth Beasley Enoch and Cassie Dillard Duke Draperis is available.? I?have the following few sentences from?page 1, Chapter 1.? Please see my comments at the end. ,"Tradition says that the Beasleys originally came from Ireland.? The first one, Robert Beasley, was in North Carolina as early as 1665 and his son, Francis Beasley, was born in 1678.? Robert's Will, probated in 1693, names two sons:? James and Francis.? Francis Beasley's Will was probated in 1719, naming a son James, with his Will being probated in 1754.? In this Will a son, John Henry Beasley, mentioned.? This brings us down to our line of descent.? Henry was the father of Isham Beasley, born in 1760 in Chatham or Orange County, North Carolina.? In addition to Isham, the sons of Henry Beasley included Henry, Findel, William, Ephraim, and Jesse.? Henry's daughters were Mary, Tabitha, Betty and Edith Wimberly, not designated as a daughter.? Henry's Will, however, gave Edith a feather bed and some furniture, but he was less generous with his daughters.? To Mary he gave 25 pounds; to Tabitha he also gave 25 pounds; but to Betty only one pound was left.? The remaining part of h! is estate was equally divided among his sons." COMMENT:? The information on Henry Beasley and his children is correct. Chatham Co., NC, 19 Jan 1795, Record Book 2, p 36, gives the Will of Henry Beasley. HOWEVER THE INFO ON HIS PARENTS I BELIEVE IS INCORRECT!!? The following are a few of my notes from my research. Chatham Co., NC, 19 Jan 1795, Record Book 2, p 36, gives the Will of Henry Beasley. HOWEVER THE INFO ON HIS PARENTS I BELIEVE IS INCORRECT!!? The following are a few of my notes from my research. ???? Some researchers have connected Henry to the Beasleys of Halifax, Chowan, etc. of the NC east coast.? They give his name as John Henry Beasley claiming this is what was given in the will of James Beasley in 1754.? However, I find no will in the Index of NC Wills by Mitchell. There is a Jeames Beasley of Bertie Co., in 1758.?? History of Perquimans County, p 324, (found in Raleigh State Archives) gives this James as son of Robert & Sarah Beasley and married to Mary Cropley (dau. of John & Ann) Mar 17, 1675.? It gives he moved to Bertie Co. where his will was probated Jan 1758.?? He leaves most of estate to his god son Luke Smithwick.?? He must not have had children of his own or they died without heirs before he did.? It also gives James had a brother Francis who married Hannah Sutton and had children James and Robert.? It is James, the son of Francis, whom some researchers claim was the father of our Henry Beasley who died 1795 in Chatham Co., NC.? The referenced histor! y gives the names of this James' children as John, James, Mary & Thomas.? No son Henry or John Henry is given.? The use of middle names was rare until later and it seems very unlikely that the John mentioned was John Henry.? I have a copy of the Chowan Co., NC records (NC Archives Box 024.508.5 for Mary praying to be administrator and also the division of James estate, which the widow received a third part, and the rest divided between children, John, Games, Mary, and Thos. Beasley. Therefore, I believe it unlikely that the John, son of James of 1754, is our Henry's father.? JEA Also some give the father of Henry as John Beasley and Lydia Daly of NY.? John had a son Henry but he was not the Henry of Orange and Chatham? NC. I believe Henry of NC must have been born about 1725, probably in Essex Co., VA. He probably was a grandson of William Beezley who died in Essex Co., VA, in 1719. I have William's will. William had five sons, John, William, Benjamin, Charles, and Henry. I believe that John, Benjamin, William and Henry are the most likely ones to be his father but none can be ruled out. So many records were burned that it may not be possible to prove who his father was but we need to keep trying.? The Beasleys and Barbees lived near each other in Essex Co., (two of Henry's sons, Ephraim and Jesse,?married daus. of Christopher Barbee) and lived near each other in Orange Co., NC.?I descend from Jesse.? I have done much research on this family but would like to see more research on the NC land and court records in hopes of finding the father of Henry.
