    3. I looked in www.FamilySearch.Com for an Alpha Beasley married to a Stacy. Alpha Beasley married a David Stacy in 1823 in Limestone County, AL but she was shown as being born 12 Sep 1899 and died in 1961. Information doesn't look right? Contact for this information is as follow: Debra Jean Sudlow MILLER, 211 East Street Athens, AL 35611 You can find her information at the web site I mentioned above or I'm sure an LDS History Center would be able to assist you in getting the details. Apparently you can order a CD with the information on it too. I'm not related to her but thought I might just do a quick search. Hope this helps. 3. I have been watching, with interest the exchanges on the Beasley Family in Baldwin Co, GA. I have the following information and a small Baldwin Co, connection. My ancestor, John G. Beasley, b. 11 May 1792, in Anson Co NC, married, 09 March 1820, in Baldwin Co GA, Martha Alums / Allums. Martha was born, 04 January 1802, in Washington Co GA. John was the brother of, William Beasley, b. 1801, who married Martha's sister, Elizabeth Alums. All of the above died in Barbour Co., AL and are buried in Beasley Family Cemetery, Louisville, Barbour Co, AL. Near Pratts. The following was sent to me by another researcher, and I have not proven it. Daniel Beasley of Richmond County, NC appears to be the father of your William Beasley. He was married to Sarah Unknown and had the following 16 children: 1) Dianah Beasley Snead, b. March 27, 1812, Richmond Co, NC, d. July 3, 1886 in Fayette, Co, Ga. She had family in Cherokee Co, Ala. and apparently traveled back & forth over the years. 2) Thomas Beasley md. Margaret Unknown 3) Daniel Beasley md. Victoria Unknown 4) Nicholas Green Beasley 5) Margaret Beasley 6) Celia Beasley md. Samuel Jackson 7) Barbara Beasley 8) Miriam Beasley 9) John G. Beasley md. Martha Allums*** 10) James Beasley 11) William Beasley b. abt. 1801, North Carolina (?), d. abt. 1877, Barbour Co, Ala; md Elizabeth Allums (Martha's sister?)*** 12) Elizabeth Beasley md. Unknown Rachals 13) Sarah Beasley md. Britton Adkison 14) Mary Beasley 15) Rebecca Beasley 16) Elinor Beasley Johnson ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Martha and Elizabeth Allums father is believed to be, Asa Allums, b. Abt. 1783. I'm not sure if any of this will help those of you who are researching the family of Thomas Beasley. Due to the marriage in Baldwin Co, I am wondering if there is some connection. Thank You, Anne FL

This Thomas Beasley and >Phariby would be the parents of the Thomas Beasley children born after 1800. >I believe the ones born before are the children of Thomas Beasley and >Susannah Jones. Can you construct a chronology to support this? Here is my chronology: Thomas Beasley, b. before 1733, d. after 1754 (from the 1754 Onslow Co. Muster Roll - he must have been 21 to serve). Thomas Beasley, b. abt. 1750, d. bet. 1820-1830 m. 1 - unknown, b. abt. 1755, d. abt. 1778 m. 2 - (Sus)Anna Jones Brinson, b. abt. 1745, d. bet. 1790-1800 m. 3 - Faraby Brinson, b. abt. 1775, d. bet. 1820-1830 Thomas Beasley, b. abt. 1790 to Thomas & Anna, d. bet. 1840-1850 m. Elizabeth Pridgen, b. bet. 1780-1790, d. bet. 1830-1840 >Now, also, I do not believe that Thomas Beasley had more than one wife. Consider this - a deed in Bulloch Deed Book 2A, p. 247, dated 1/1/1830, from David, Anna and Isaiah Beasley to Jas Hendricks for $69.00 for all their interests in tract of land on Ogeechee R. where their FATHER THOMAS lived. The 1850 census says Isaiah was born about 1786, David was born abt. 1802, and Anna was born abt. 1808. There is a deed in Bulloch Co Deed Book 2A, p 248, dated 5-29-1830, from Elijah Beasley of Lowndes Co. to James Hendricks for his interest in the tract of land on the Ogeechee River in Bulloch Co. GA where his FATHER THOMAS BEASLEY lived. The 1860 census says Elijah was born about 1775. If your theory is correct, then Thomas and (Sus)Anna Jones Brinson Beasley didn't have any kids we know about, unless he had two sons named Thomas. Your alledged Thomas Jr. who supposedly married Faraby Brinson had Isaiah abt. 1786, Thomas abt. 1787, then a large gap until 1802 when David, Elizabeth, James, Anna, Rebecca, and Hannah. Thomas Sr. would have had to have died prior to 1820, but his son Elijah inexplicably did not sell his land before moving to Irwin Co. (later Lowndes), but waited over 10 years to do so. I respectfully submit that your theory of two Thomases does not agree with the two deed transfers. The simplest explanation is that the Thomas Beasley mentioned in each is the same person. He died shortly before 1830, and his son-in-law, James Hendricks, bought out Thomas' other heirs to consolidate their land with that which his wife inherited. >When I have time to dig up my records, it does not appear likely that Thomas >Beasley was ever married to a Mary "Polly" Brinson. On that we agree. :) Jeffrey

    1. Re: [Beasley] More On The Wives of Thomas Beasley
    2. Jeffery and all, My actual thoughts on the Thomas Beasley dilema is that the Thomas Beasley who married Susannah Jones, widow of Stirring/Sterling Beasley, had probably been married before and had a son, Thomas, who married Phariby Brinson (daughter of Stirring Brinson and Susannah Jones). This Thomas Beasley and Phariby would be the parents of the Thomas Beasley children born after 1800. I believe the ones born before are the children of Thomas Beasley and Susannah Jones. Now, also, I do not believe that Thomas Beasley had more than one wife. When I have time to dig up my records, it does not appear likely that Thomas Beasley was ever married to a Mary "Polly" Brinson. When I get a chance to go to Bulloch Co, I believe there are land transactions in Bulloch Co, Ga that would prove that Phariby and Thomas Beasley were married during the years that Thomas Beasley was supposed to have been married to Mary "Polly" Brinson. About 1793, this Thomas Beasley moved to Burke >Co., GA in area that later became Jefferson Co. Is this Thomas Beasley >father to Thomas Beasley ( cir 1760-1829) who settled in Screven and Bulloch >Co, GA? > >Sterling Brinson and Susannah Jones had daughter, Phariby. Is it likely that >Phariby, wife of Thomas Beasley is Phariby Brinson? Children of Thomas >Beasley seem to possibly be named for children of Sterling Brinson and >Susannah Jones. > >Also, Phariby Beasley (Beezley) was member of Nevils Creek Primitive Baptist >Church in 1814. And Land Transactions for Thomas Beasley and Phariby after >the date of Thomas Beasley's marriage to Mary "Polly" Brinson has me >wondering about who is the mother of the children of Thomas Beasley, as it >appears that Phariby was probably alive until at least 1814. > >Can anyone shed any light on any of these mysteries? > >Dot Baker Great! Some new information! Which leads me to yet more information. The will of Stirring Brinson names his wife Anna, sons Moses and David, and daughters Jerusha, Faraby, and Anna. A full transcription of this can be found at: http://www.fortunecity.com/greenfield/vine/7/brinson/not0002.html According to Brinson researcher Barry Whitney, Stirring died in 1778, so a marriage to his widow in 1780 sounds reasonable. I will try to find the original source document for the marriage in Onslow Co. records for confirmation. Anna was born about 1745, and Isaiah, Thomas, and Elsey were born in the 1785-1791 timeframe, which matches the end of her childbearing years, and suggests that she died sometime between 1790-1800. The 3 children of Thomas Beasley known to have been born before 1780, William, Elijah, and John, must have had another mother. And the children born after 1800 must have had another mother. Since I know almost nothing about the first wife, I'll focus on the third wife. The will of Stirring names sons Moses and David, and daughters Jerusha, Faraby, and Anna. The names of Thomas Beasley's 2nd set of children? David, Elizabeth, James Moses, Anna, Hannah, and Rebecca. Rebecca pops up alot amongst the Brinsons, so we have 4 Brinson names out of 6 known children. And James named a son ADAM BRINSON. This strongly suggests that Thomas' third wife was a descendent of Adam Brinson. Anna Jones Brinson wasn't, but her daughter Faraby was. Brinson researchers indicate Faraby was born about 1770, and as near as I can tell, the last daughter was born before 1815, which is before she was 45. So, it seems that Faraby is a good fit for Thomas Beasley Sr's third wife. If not her, then which other Brinson? I've updated my online family tree to reflect the latest. See: http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=bulloch_beasleys&id=I444 At this point, we have several lines of inquiry to pursue. In Onslow Co. NC, any mentions of Beasleys prior to 1800, and a look into the families of (Sus)Anna Jones and Stirring Brinson would be in order. Also, a look at Burke & Effingham Co. GA records prior to 1793 might establish when Thomas Beasley came to Georgia. Unfortunately, I'm soon going to have to wind down my genealogical pursuits for the summer to get some work done. :P Jeffrey

Could be, but since the father's place of birth is also listed as Georgia, I think the most likely explanation is that the persons who gave the answers didn't know. I don't think Thomas had any sons born in Georgia that were old enough to have fathered Rebecca & Anna. Besides, the link to James suggests that Thomas, born in NC, was their father. But that's what makes genealogy so challenging - almost nothing is absolute, it's all a matter of possibilities & probabilities. >The more we know about the Beasleys, the more >easy it will be to place our strays in an appropriate place. They are a wonderful tool for finding folks quickly, especially if you don't know where to look. But, as with any transcribed document, you really should go back and double check against the original to make sure there were no transcription errors. I'm glad I did here, because the families of JAMES BEASLEY AND REBECCA BEASLEY GROOVER WERE LISTED ON THE CD AS BEING BLACK, NOT WHITE. Looking at the microfilm image, they all had "W" in the race column, plain as day. All I can say is, caveat lector when it comes to the 1880 Census CDs! PPS Thanks again Joanne!
