Back in 1999 I was contacted by a Shirley Christian in Texas who gave me some information on a possible link to our John Clark Beasley. I lost contact with her as she moved to Ft. Worth and her email address has also changed. If anyone knows of this Shirley, would you contact me off line? Our Henry Malone Beasley was born in 1850, probably Arkansas. We only have the name of his father, John Clark Beasley and his mother, Nancy Elizabeth Malone. Our John Clark Beasley was born abt. 1824., possibly Va. Ga. or Mo. We are still searching for him. We do have some information on a John C. Some have told us John C. was descended from William Beasley, 1670, through is son Noah. However, this John C. was born in 1840, and our's couldn't have been born this early as his son, Henry Malone, was born in 1850. This information came across the Ancestry newsletter and thought it would be of interest. If you know the date of your ancestor, you can tell if they would be included on the census for that year. *********************************************************************** Ancestry Daily News, June 26, 2002 1790 census taken starting on 2 August 1790 1800 census taken starting on 4 August 1800 1810 census taken starting on 6 August 1810 1820 census taken starting on 7 August 1820 1830-1900 census taken starting on 1 June of the census year. 1910 census was taken starting on 15 April 1910 1920 census was taken starting on 1 January 1920 1930 census was taken starting on 1 April 1930 Obviously every census enumeration was not done on the exact same day for every household. Enumeration was an ongoing process which was supposed to be done as expeditiously as possible. Information was also supposed to be provided as of the census date. This usually was the case, but there are always exceptions and genealogy somehow seems to center on exceptions. An enumerator could easily have made a mistake and there is always the chance that an ancestor misunderstood the question. ************************************************************************** Jo Autrey [email protected] http://www.usroots.com/~jautrey http://www.usroots.com/~jmautrey http://freepages.pets.rootsweb.com/~jmautrey This message has been checked by Norton2002 anti-virus software before being released. Thanks. That is not him. I have a copy of his marriage record signed by Rev. J. J. Grace marrying him and Eugenia Alice Morgan in Whistler Alabama. I have the names of their children and bithhdates in the Bible that my grandmother had. He was married before to a N.A. ? Beasley who was born Feb. 25, 1855 and died Sept. 15, 1915. I do not know what her name or maiden name was, all that is used in the Bible for her is initials. It appears that James Henry and she divorced. They had one child together, A.E. Beasley born in 1872. He died while living in Lauderdale County (Meridian) Mississippi. He was killed while working on the Mobile and Ohio Railroad Jan. 13th 1902. If you ever run across him, I would be thankful for any info you find. Elaine
