--=====================_22303097==_.ALT Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Hi Cousins, I was in P.E.I. recently and one of my cousins had a book, "Bearce to Bears Genealogy - 1638-1982" compiled by C. Austin Bears in 1982. Apparently, there are 2 volumes, but I only had access to Vol. 1 which covers 12 generations beginning with Augustine and Mary. The books are out of print as the author has since died. They are available in the Special Collections Room at the University of P.E.I. My cousin let me borrow the book and I copied it, scanned the pictures and just finished typing it into the computer (290 pages total). The genealogy pertains mainly to the descendent Bears families of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island going back to Augustine. He lists his main sources of references as quoted: "I will name a few of the main sources of reference included in this history. In Prince Edward Island, the Public Archives. The Nova Scotia Archives in Halifax, where I found items such as: Liverpool families, by Dr. F.E. Crowell, which appeared in the Boston Herald, Nov. 12, 1929. Seventy three sheets on Liverpool families, by I.B. Smith. Longs records. History of Queens Co., N.S. by F.J. Moore. Register of Baptism 1790, Shelbourne Co., N.S. by Frank A. Doane. From the American records: In the Public Library of Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Sturgess Library in Barnstable, Mass. there are many books containing records of the early settlers in that area. The Genealogical Notes of Cape Cod Families (1620-1850) compiled in cooperation with the Sturgess Library by Lydia B. Broenson, Grace W. Held, and Doris V. Norton, are reported to be the most comprehensive and detailed works ever assembled on the Cape Cod families. In the book titled: Topographical Directory of English Emigrants to New England (1620-1650) by Banks, there were 2,885, one entered as follows: "Bearse, Augustine; from English parish of Longstock, Hampshire. From the book: Directory of the Heads of New England Families (1620-1700), by Holms, the following: "Bearse, Bearce, Beirce, Austin; born in 1618; settled at Barnstable, Massachusetts in 1638. The book: Genealogical Guide to the Early Settlers of America, by Whitmore, this entry: "Augustine Bearce of Barnstable, Mass., came in the Confidence, 1638, age 20, from Southamptonshire, England, and joined Lathrop's church, April 1643. Had issue, etc., etc. In the book: The Planters of the Commonwealth, under Passengers and Ships is entered: "Confidence, of London, two hundred tons, John Gibson Master. Sailed from Southampton the last of April, by virtue of the Lord Treasures warrant of the 11 April, 1638". Included in the passenger list: Augustine Bearce, age 20 (see passenger list page 20-22.) From the papers and genealogical charts by Franklyn Bearce, one of the copies on file at the New York Public Library, comes the following information: "Our first
