The RLDS was a splinter group who believe that Joseph Smith's son would be the President of LDS Church. Most of the followers stayed with the leadership of the LDS "Mormon" church. My ancestors, Rebecca and her husband both died in Iowa during that forced move. I have no idea about the Reverend John Lathrop. Glenn >> Glenn, Like I said I would copy the paper word for word. But actually I was wondering myself because I was told that my Ggrandfathrer Joseph Barss started the reorganized church in White Rock, Michigan. Another family member had 3 of those churchs built in Lanzing. My Grandmother was a Latter Day Saint. So that is why it amazed me so about the passage about Rev. John Lathrop. Cousin Sharon adds: It is interesting that the Bearss line of the family endorsed not only the Mormon religion through Rebecca, refuted to be the first American Indian Mormon, but Ira who went to Canada married into the Morningstar/Neff Mennonite families from Lancaster, PA. Ambrose Bearse was the founding pastor of the Mennonite Church in Shelby, MI. My grandfather, Abraham Hubert Bearss married a Dutch reform woman. I see Sharon got my point........there are a ton of them! And I know some cousins now are Mormon! I know like everybody else learned in grade school that a lot of people left England because they wanted freedom of religion. And I know when and how the Church was born. It was just all starting to make sense to me why so many Mormons in our family lines and that he-Augustine belonged to the church that down the road the Reverend John Lathrop's descendants was born Joseph Smith! Just hit me like it was a sort of plan of Gods--blueprint lets say. Setting up the beginnings of what was to come. And it's the Mormons that research and save all the information from way back then! It's like a big circle! The Indians may be right about the circle theory! Sharon dear help me out here! Lol. Thank you Maggie and all that replied to my post because that was a lot of typing!
