    3. Seamus, place names and branch names are as different as chalk and cheese. Place names would cover the various townlands, or local areas in which people live. Branch names for instance show the various ways in which, let us say, take Sullivans/O'Sullivans are differentiated from one another ----- like Sullivan(Suonish), Sullivan(Rochtirre), Sullivan(Master), Sullivan(Tailor), Sullivan(Dorohy), Sullivan(Rider), etc., etc., etc. ----- Riobard.
